This is what I think is happening with JD and the constant pimping. Maybe a twist in the results - Maybe Haley will go home. I think JD will make it to top 3. Just hope he is not a finalist.

Adam tweeted too. Can check it out when your fingers get tired of dialing for Haley.

Adam tweeted too. Can check it out when your fingers get tired of dialing for Haley. Haley and AI Season 10 is just a distraction until Adam #2 arrives. I went to the new thread to see what is going on because that is my first priority.

Okay, James sings Don't Stop Believin'. Not a train wreck. But, the boy just doesn't have strong enough technique to do what he wants to do. He doesn't have the breath support to consistently hit the high notes in tune. Put him with a good vocal coach (not one for an hour on Idol, but a couple of years with a coach weekly) and he might have something there. As for vibrato on the high notes, again, inconsistent. He sang the B4s with a straight tone thru most of the note, but added a light vibrato at the end. That worked. But when he took it up for the final glory (sung with such ringing tone and beautiful vibrato by Adam in Season 8 shows) the tone was completely straight. It really needed some vibrato, IMO. Someone also asked about his tone or timbre on those high notes. It IS thin. He is not using as much resonance as he could ---- or he doesn't have the physiology to produce richness at that pitch. My bet is it is a bit of both. So, it lacks some of the harmonics that can warm the tone. And lacks the breath support. Again, he needs a good coach. Singers often learn to sing by first imitating others. Adam has said that is how he started, but he then explored his body/voice to find his own style and sound. I think James is still in the imitation phase. There was certainly nothing original in his version. Even the same glory notes that Adam sang much better. Interested in learning more about breathing and support? Why it is fundamental to a great singer? Who is a great example of wonderful breathing? (And how it connects with the beloved GB?) Guess everyone left the thread when Idol ended. Hello ---ello---ellooo
Ring of Fire as a middle eastern seductive ballad with vocal acrobatics by Adam Lambert ----- totally unexpected when it aired, and totally mind blowing.
Love Potion Number 9 as a metal rock song with vocal acrobatics by James Durbin ------ not unexpected, since that is the lane he insists on going down. Mind blowing? Not in a good way. Ewww. Just .... ewww. And a vocal mess. And totally disregarded Gaga's advice.
Foolish boy in so many ways. Gaga surprised the heck outa me. She was a great coach. She knows her stuff. Beneath all the makeup, she kept it real, and got to the heart of matters. I thought she was all flash, and couldn't understand why Adam said she was so smart and savvy. I take it back.
Haley: Too much growl and gravel in her first number. Did not like the sound. The second number was better. Gaga got the right attitude out of her, too.
Scotty: Terminally country. Cute. Sincere in the cheesiest way. I can see him being a big hit in the country genre.
Lauren: Oooh, rough high note. Lost it at the end. But the earlier swagger was a pleasant surprise. Gaga brought something out in her, too.
