I think the AI confessionals show that AFL was keenly aware, even back then, that giving fans some direct contact was a key component to creating a strong base for later success. He continued the trend, signing so much after nearly every AI concert, and now through twitter.
His intelligence and vision span the spectrum. No worries here, just looking forward to the next new thing while trying to decide which Trespassing song is today's favourite.
I see it a bit differently. I think Adam does it, and keeps doing it, because he never takes anyone's love or appreciation of his work for granted and never will. I feel he is honestly grateful for it, his last night's promise of not letting us down nearly killed me. As if he needs, or feels the urge to show us he loves us back. Like we're in a goddamn meaningful relationship or something, jfc... But I'm just a lovesick fool, don't listen to me. Probably there is a bit of the business intent of creating a stronger fan base thrown into the mix, but that can't be his major motivation for doing it. My Trespassing favourite for today is Kickin In. I'm the fan of the live version and can't get enough of it.
It can certainly be both, IMO - gratitude and future vision.

I remember reading that fans who were in the audience that day said AFL rehearsed the song with the guitar player for about 10 minutes before the performance. They said Adam was explaining to the guitarist what he wanted to do, they went through it once and that was about it.

Just got back from the hair salon and my stylist told me that Pandora's top hit mix is now playing NCOE!!! He hears it 3 or so times a day. Anybody else aware of that? Maybe it has been there all along but I don't listen to that mix.
With Trespassing climbing on movers and shakers, perhaps we have a second wind? That would be so awesome.

He wore it once after that at some awards show, I believe! There is actually a video of him briefly discussing it with Kris Allen who happened to be on the red carpet at the same time. I tried finding the bracelet just now for you and couldn't. My DH is going to love the internet searches I just did! ;D

Adam wore it at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood red carpet. Watch him here while Kris is talking about the ring and Adam responding. I love his tongue when he does that. ;D

Q3: blueberry. there should be a two labels on tabs at the bottom of the REPLY box -- one labeled Preview and one labeled BBCode. Can you see these or are they gone?

blueberry: Q3, I can still see the labels, but when I click on the Preview label, nothing happens. And every time I start a new post, it automatically takes me to BB Code. Otherwise it doesn't matter, but posting pictures would be easier in Preview (copy+paste).
