Random Adam related thoughts on a Sunday afternoon following the incredilbe high school gradution of my beautiful niece:
Pretty pictures and collages!. I like the studio audio for LWG. Certainly not one of my favorite Adam tunes, but nice to have something new and different in the rotation. I love the lyrics. The straight up "empty your pockets, bitches" energy of the message is just so Adam.
All of the PRIDE Press is just so special. In 98-99 when I was coming out and even up until now, it has been a struggle for my partner and I to go into the streets with who we are. Our professions put us in contact with a lot of the public, and as we don't advertise our sexuality to our students and patients, both possibly sensitive populations to sexuality issues, going to PRIDE parades has not been something we have done. With sadness, really. I want to go shout it in the streets, because yeah, I want to get married for real.
We went to Paris for our honeymoon the year we handfasted, 2001. While we were there, PRIDE festival was happening!! It was FANTASTIC. The costumes, the energy! The Queens, OMG, never seen anything like it. One lovely soul had butterfuly wings that expanded 4 feet behind his back, up above his head and all the way to the ground. I have incredible memories of that day.
As the Supreme Court is actually considering my legal future in a way I have really not thought possible until now, I find myself hopeful that soon it will not matter whether my partner and I are seen holding hands in public and obviously looking like a couple. It's not that we take pains to hide who we are, we take pains not to express too much affection lest it make others uncomrtable who may not want to even have our sexualtity as a thought in their head. But still, I really don't want this to matter anymore.
And everytime Adam opens his beautiful lips to speak on behalf of the LGBTQ community, I feel blessed. HE is a shaman, whether he knows it or not. He channels bright positive, love infused energy and brings that beauty wherever he goes. And he keeps doing it. He is here, in the now, fully present and understands his burden, his role in all of this. That GLAAD speech rocked my world, just made me so proud to one of his adoring nutty fans.
I want him to get this Idol gig for the constant visibility it will get him. It seems to be his best opportunity for getting on American television right now in a consistent way. FOX, put this man on tevevision twice weekly and watch your ratings go up. He is snappy entertainment, softened by a good heart. People will fucking love him. He did say he would surprise us at the very first audition and he has been right so far.
Have a beautiful day.
