Looks like it's just me and you on this thread, Stardust. I'm glad that CJ is gone. Even though his performances were heartfelt, that guy could not sing in tune!!! It was even a bit painful at times! I'm okay with Alex or Jena winning, though I don't think either of them has much chance of stardom. But then I think the same thing of The Voice contestants.

I think TPTB are still trying to push Sam on us, though. Don't think they will give up soon. To me, he is as interesting as paint drying.

I wonder who the two no votes were. It seemed like Caleb was a yes and was trying to convince the others before they went to commercial. Sam just never got comfortable -- way too self-conscious -- and there was never any sense that he was enjoying himself on stage. It was interesting looking at the facebook pics -- very few young girls -- so either they weren't voting for him with Facebook or they just weren't voting for him at all. I got the feeling that he was relieved that it was all over!

According to MJs, the 2 No votes were Alex and Gena. It was Sam's time to go (and then some)!!!

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if it was the two girls. That was a funny Reality Check you posted. I see they like Jessica. I'm still having issues with her and Alex -- "dead eyes".

I thought the contestants were better on Wednesday night -- still not a great top 4, but they are all so young. Jessica didn't get much love from the judges and now she is gone. Too bad, as I was a bit curious to see Slapout, Alabama.

I'm hoping Jena and Alex are the final 2 this week. I'm kinds tired of Caleb. Reality Check: Who Falls Short of Our Dream Final 2 on American Idol? Plus: The Voice's Top 8 Week Bloodbath — Why We Hated It
We’re down to the penultimate weeks of American Idol and The Voice – which means the forecast calls for heightened stress, a 70 percent chance of tears and emotional storm warnings. On this week’s Reality Check, my co-host Melinda Doolittle and I dish the complicated emotions dredged up by the slaughterhouse vibe of The Voice‘s Top 8 results telecast and the inevitable ouster of Idol‘s Jessica Meuse. Stardust, thanks for bringing that link here. I am hoping for a Jena/Alex finale and I guess I'm hoping for Jena to win. She seems like the most likely one of the three to have a career in the current music scene.
Do you watch The Voice too? I was surprised that Christina ended up in the bottom 3 today. She has a lot of Youtube followers and I thought she might be the frontrunner. Do you think that Jake might win??? He has the weakest voice, but the "aw shucks" factor going on. I know nothing about country music, so maybe he could have a career???

I'm hoping for an Alex win, partly because it's clear to me that the show wants either Jena or Caleb, and partly because when I listen to Alex's performances, they sound the most to me like songs I would hear on the radio. His performance style is a little off-putting to some, but that wouldn't be a factor on a recording. All of the contestants have slipped into a sameness from week to week and are quite predictable but hopefully they'll be given a variety of songs to do if they get a recording contract.
