I finally found time to register and vote for QAL as Group Of The Year. Since I had to vote for all other categories and I have not kept up-to-date on what is "new in classic rock" (isn't this a contradiction?), I went to listen to YouTube records of all groups proposed for Newcomer before voting. The result: I voted for and became a casual fan of a bluesy group called NoSinner. Then I also realized they are from Vancouver! I might even go listen to them live in November. I just wish they weren't playing this close to "Zombieland" on East Hastings (true fact, I just mistyped it as "Nastings", Freud anyone?) Here is their first song I found that informed my vote: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIhDILaxLxwShe is terrific kryptoman...thanks for posting....I am just on Salt Spring so perhaps she/they will trek to Victoria sometime as that is far easier for me to go to....

kryptoman... thanks for the heads up about No Sinner! That lead singer Colleen Rennison is awesome! (and lmao about East Nastings)

Another one here.....fyi Logging in issue....just started yesterday/ last night for me. When I login I just have to hit continue, as it has my information and remember me is checked. Edit....closed out and returned to view the thread....it seems to be holding now....go figure this stuff eh!! Well that's interesting...I've been having to re-log in to this site each and every time I visited for over a year, even though I had the box ticked to "remember me". But just a few days ago this changed (I did nothing) and I'm now able to stay logged in. Weird. Me too -- but only for a week or two. Now, it's asking me again.

Maybe he will sing it in a studio and they will auto tune and lip synch like for the super bowl.

He will be fine. The Star Spangled Banner is only an octave and a half plus a semitone, it really does not require a great vocal range, it requires great control to handle that fast move up "and the land of the free" and the low notes require a lot of air to have the proper volume and not sound weak. Regarding key, he has the range to have the option to pick a key that he is really comfortable with. Even when he was on Idol, he knew how to pick songs and arrangement that showcased his voice. (P2 is a baritone with a range from C2 to A4, and up to C5 in his falsetto.) What is more interesting to me, if I wonder how he will choose to sing it. He has an interesting vocal style -- similar to Bob Seger. ETA: Here is his SSB from the 2012 World Series...not my favorite performance of it, but respectful and heartfelt. youtu.be/5IYbH21V4MM
