Adam Lambert's new album: 'There's some house on there'
Says of the LP: 'it's definitely pop'
Adam Lambert details his new album will feature house music Photo: Wenn
Adam Lambert is set to release his third studio album The Original High later this year, and he has dropped some hints of what kind of genres fans can expect from the LP.
He detailed to Digital Spy that the album is "definitely pop" and also mentionned that "there's some house on there" as well as "some R&B flavours". He added that the LP is "for the audience, not myself".
It seems Lambert is far more concerned now with pleasing and interesting his audience, as he elaborated: "I want it to be less about me, even though it's personal, and more about the listener. So whatever it means to you."
Lambert has has an extremely busy 2015, fronting the legendary Queen on a world tour that spanned 11 countries over 26 dates. The
The Original High is due for release later this year. It will be Lambert's first album for Warner Bros Records and was recorded in Stockholm with Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback. He told Billboard recently. "The two of them are just geniuses at what they do. And the vibe they create is so free of ego, it's about, "Let's make a great song." And that's what it should be. And they let me be me."
Lambert also believes his recent experience fronting Queen has helped shape the album. "I wanted something more internal and more grounded. A little less with the theatrical and the camp and the presentation. I wanted to bring it in a bit more. Being on the road with a British rock band, and being in London a lot this year, rehearsing with them and doing TV gigs, I think that has affected my sound and where we are headed with it. [Europe] is very ahead of the curve, or right on, and I was definitely influenced by that. Vocally, it's very intimate compared to what I've done in the past. There is a little bit of a daring, deeper internal conflict and poetry about it."
Queen and Lambert conclude their 26 date European tour today (27 February) in Sheffield Motorpoint Arena. They have performed to over 300,000 people.

The 2015 Brit Awards saw Madonna take a very public tumble, Kanye West premiere a new (largely muted) song and bookies favorites Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith call it a tie with two awards apiece.
Digital Spy was on the red carpet before all the action to find out what we can expect from Rudimental's new album, why Jessie Ware angered Cheryl fans and whether George Ezra was channelling his alter ego...

REVIEW: He will rock you! Adam Lambert triumphs with Queen at SSE Arena Wembley
4 / 5 stars
Adam Lambert performs with Queen at the SSE Arena Wembley
FREDDIE MERCURY is a tough act to follow but new Queen frontman Adam Lambert gives it his all in a stirring concert with Brian May and Roger Taylor
by Jonathon Brown
Adam Lambert follows in Freddie Mercury's footsteps in his performance with rock legends Queen
IT has been almost thirty years since Queen gave the 20-minute performance masterclass at Live Aid that sealed their status as rock legends. More soberingly, it’s almost 25 years since the death of the band's flamboyant frontman, Freddie Mercury.
For the last quarter century, celebrated axeman Brian May (now 67), and drummer Roger Taylor, 65, have kept the Queen juggernaut running – albeit with some bumps in the road. Now, they're back in the Stadium's baby brother SSE Arena Wembley.
Unfairly accused by some of cynically cashing in on Mercury's legacy while bassist John Deacon opted for a quiet retirement, the duo have existed as a band for considerably longer without their flamboyant frontman than with him.
Attempts to replace the irreplaceable have had mixed success – from duets with everyone from 5ive to Robbie Williams to Jessie J, to that long-term collaboration with ex-Free frontman Paul Rogers. All gave a new twist on the old standards, but largely failed to deliver the pomp and humour that made the songs so easy to love in the first place.
So what of Queen’s latest collaboration with Adam Lambert, the former American Idol star who was just nine years old when Freddie passed?
Kicking off with One Vision, he responds to the challenge of filling Mercury's massive shoes with some towering footwear of his own and a virtuosso vocal performance.
Lambert certainly has the soaring, effortless vocal ability and flamboyant stage presence for the job and, nearing the completion of this European tour, appears supremely confident.
Pouting, thrusting and flirting his way through the two-hour live seat, his bucketless energy and enthusiasm for Queen's back catalogue is clear. The man who could be Mercury's young apprentice is having the time of his life – as are May and Taylor, who are clearly enjoying the injection of energy Lambert brings to proceedings.
The secret of Lambert's success tonight at the SSE Arena is not just his ability to (almost) match Mercury's vocal range. It's more that he wisely treads the fine line between being (in May's words) "the new guy", and remaining reverential to the former frontman's legacy. As he reminds us, he’s as much a fan as we are, and at times it seems he cannot believe his luck.
During the first half of the show, a revitalised Queen rattle their way through a string of hits including Fat Bottomed Girls and Stone Cold Crazy. Very quickly, Lambert has the audience eating out of his hand, spitting water in to the audience and playfully asking one female audience member: “Did I get you wet?”
Job done, the young pretender then retires backstage as Brian May takes centre stage to perform Love Of My Life – a touching change of pace which sees the guitarist duet with video footage of Mercury – before he performs folksy favourite 39.
Taylor then steps forward to demonstrate some astonishing drumming chops, and embarks on a drum solo battle with his son Rufus. (Although hoarse, he also sings to great effect on A Kind Of Magic and, with Lambert, on Under Pressure.)
Despite the presence of an overly long guitar solo section from May (come on Bri, we could have crammed a couple more hits in there), the big tunes keep coming, including crowd pleaser Radio Gaga and a pitch-perfect The Show Must Go On.
Freddie Mercury would be proud of Adam Lambert's performance
The night concludes with another duet featuring Mercury – this time Bohemian Rhapsody – before an encore which sees a becrowned Lambert singing We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.
If there’s one failing, it’s that Lambert, while hugely impressive, doesn't get enough chance to deliver the light and shade that allowed Mercury to connect with an audience. While his powerful voice never tires, there are few displays of vulnerability – Save Me and Who Wants To Live Forever being notable exceptions.
Lambert isn't apologetic for not being Freddie Mercury – he's clearly aware that even after so long, the moustached maestro's shadow looms large.
What do we think of the new guy? We approve. And we get the feeling Freddie would have done, too.

REVIEW: Queen at the Liverpool ECHO Arena

Queen at the Liverpool ECHO Arena

Queen and Adam Lambert performing at The Liverpool Echo Arena
Freddie Mercury had a rare and unusual gift. He managed to make us all magnificent for five minutes. His songs brought out the strutting peacock in the mildest mannered of music fans.
In a couple of decades, Queen wrote more hits than most musicians do in a lifetime, and performed them around the world to adoring fans. And then, suddenly and seemingly so unfairly, Freddie was stolen from us by a cruel illness and the music stopped.
It has carried on, of course, in many forms. Original band members Brian may and Rodger taylor re-united, with the help of Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, for a series of gigs.
But that was more a meeting of bands, a guest performance.
It has taken Adam Lambert, the former American Idol star who was just nine years old when Freddie died, to truly re-create that magic.

He has an arena-filling charisma and an effortless soaring voice, but there the comparisons stop. He’s not much like Freddie in the way he sings or the way he looks but somehow it works. It’s not Stars in Their Eyes and it doesn’t feel like a tribute show. Somehow they make it seem new and fresh and strangely credible.
Even the parts where he wasn’t onstage – Brian May’s beautiful tribute to The Beatles “four lads from Liverpool who changed the world” You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away and Roger Taylor’s vocals on Days of Our Lives - somehow shone with a renewed confidence. For the latter song they showed Freddie and the band in their early days on the big screen, to huge cheers from the crowd.
From Under Pressure through Fat Bottomed Girls, Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me Now and Somebody to Love the American Idol gave a performance that was somehow all his own, and yet fitted perfectly with the rest of the band.
Add in the bombastic I Want It All a clap-along Radio Ga Ga and the naughtiest delivery of Crazy Little Thing Called Love antyone could hope for and Adam lambert held the ECHO arena crowd in the palm of his jewel-encrusted hand.
He sang Bohemian Rhapsody as a duet with a big-screen Freddie, a final perfect moment before the end of the main set.
Strutting back on in a crown and a leopard-print suit he gave the crowd a parting treat – We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. And last night they really were – back on form and where they belong.
