The music business is a lot of pressure. If they can't handle Idol how are they going to handle anything else in their career? This is the easy part IMO. That's true, but pressure gets to everyone at times (remember when Adam said that adrenaline affected his vocals both on "Black or White" and at the AMAs?), even professionals, and my point was that the contestants who had to wait a long time to learn their fate were at a disadvantage compared to those who were told early on in the show. The anxiety would really snowball the longer someone has to worry about being sent home. I think there should be a more fair way to do it. I like pattihum's suggestion that the bottom two are revealed at the beginning of the show and allowed to sing their "Save Me" songs first. They wouldn't have to sweat bullets for an hour or more and then have to perform, while the others, knowing right away that they're safe, could relax and focus on their performances. IKR!! My DH actually came up with a very good idea! Miracles do happen!

Either way it's stressful, it's either on the front end or the back end but regardless these contestants need to have the ability to perform at their best at any moment.
I do remember Adam saying his vocals suffered from adrenaline but he still put on a performance. Adanna (spelling?) had shaky vocals when she was given the wild card spot but she gave a great performance that people remembered and she got through. Quentin's tears probably helped him more than they hurt him IMO.
I just think after 14 seasons these people know what they are signing up for and if they aren't ready for the pressure cooker they shouldn't audition. JMO.

Founders Friday – Meet our Founder!Published March 13, 2015 DISCLAIMER: This is my first blog post ever. I’m completely blog illiterate, I apologize now. So here we are on the first Founders Friday and as luck would have it, it’s also Friday the 13th! I feel as if I’m doomed already. But, I’ll take my chances and share a little bit about why I founded The Family Pride Foundation. I’ve always been incredibly passionate about the arts – particularly film – and sharing my knowledge with the newcomers. Being a gay woman who went to film school to be the next Spielberg, I was very aware of the lack of support for minority groups in the film industry. I wanted to do something to make it a bit easier for young people to achieve their dreams of entering film, music, theatre, dance, or fashion design. How are we going to empower and educate our lgbt youth? I believe every kid is entitled to an education and sometimes families are not able to afford this education. So TFPF is in the process of setting up a scholarship fund that will help take a little financial weight off moms and dads. We’re also lining up industry professionals to provide hands-on workshops where the young person will interact and learn from some of the best. Finally, we are recruiting lgbt mentors to be a friend, role model, and positive force in a young person’s life. Sometimes a kid just needs to talk to someone that understands them and their situation. The entire team here is VERY excited to be taking our programs to the public and changing some kids’ futures. We hope you’ll join us and follow our progress as well as the young people we help. -Jen Founder & Board Chair
