Spotify update: 5,275,071 streams!! It didn't update yesterday so the increase is for two days, but still 343k increase (172k /day). GT needs a wee bit more to pass FYE and NCOE. Both are within 100k now. After that only 4 more songs will be more popular than GT (with BTIKM and TP very close). Somehow also WWFM got a huge update. It increased with over 1.4 million views. The most popular 9 before the other songs were added somehow gained a total of 1.6 million streams over the last two days. Pennies for Adam at least. Underground: 191,300 (from 159,502) Another Lonely Night: 142,837 (from 22,458)!! Evil in the Night: 43,704 (from 8,089) So 120k update on ALN as well. It seems very popular!

For the week of 6/16: do we need to stream the whole album? I remember that 1500 song streams = 1 album - does it mean we can stream any combination of songs? Any tracks on the album can be stream after it is released. I think it is best to stream the single because it has the best chance of also charting. For Billboard 200 (the new album chart): 10 digital track sales from an album = One Album Sale 1,500 Streams = One Album Sale So on album release week you could... Buy 1 and gift 2 albums = 3 units sold Buy 3 album versions = 3 units sold Buy 30 album tracks = 3 units sold Stream tracks from TOH 4,500 times = 3 units sold They are all the same.

I'm happy to vote, but the Rick.com poll wants all my contact information. Not going to do that--unless I'm reading it wrong.

But how do we know that DMG made the deal with MM/S? I don't remember reading anything about it, but it's very possible that I missed it. I seem to remember Adam saying it was WMG who made the match, but maybe I mixed things up. Not that it matters. You're right, the only thing that matters (to me) is enjoying the results, no matter how it went down. 1. That is part of what an artist's management does (in conjunction with lawyers) -- they make deals and manage everything. Also, DMG key execs have a very close relationship with Max Martin from Katy Perry. [Max Martin = "I Kissed a Girl", "Hot n Cold", "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "E.T.", "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" "The One That Got Away". Martin also co-wrote "Roar" and "Dark Horse".] >> I am not saying Adam was not involved -- he was instrumental. He has talked about meeting with Max Martin and Shellback, and playing the demo of TOH for them. I think Adam made the "sale" but that DMG put together the deal. >> Would Adam have been able to put this deal together without high-level management? My guess is no. Max Martin has been EP only 6 studio albums in since 2009 - all with major artists: Taylor Swift 1989; Maroon 5 Overexposed, V, 5 Classic Albums; Katy Perry Teenage Dream, Prism; Britney Spears Femme Fatale (with Dr. Like), The Essential Britney Spears. 2. Mostly, it is in the original Billboard articles from the announcement from January 2015 -- great managers stay in the background -- the more invisible the better. But Adam has power players for his management. JMHO I think Adam selected DMG because he wanted to 1. Get out of his RCA deal, and they have a track record of success with doing that, and 2. He wanted management that could help him become a pop star. I believe he made a very good choice. I didn't say Adam made the deal with MM/S. I thought WMG did. But if you say that's his management's job, then so it is. DMG are indeed great. I couldn't believe how they managed to separate from RCA so smoothly, I don't know how they did it. That's one of the things I'd love to read in Adam's autobiography 30 years from now...

Billboard aggregates all the streams from all the tracks on the album and uses that. So any combination counts. This article also has only a partial list of the streaming services Billboard counts.
