I don't think Adam or WB are necessarily focused on having GT or TOH top out at #1 on the actual day of it's release. Considering the pre-sale situation (which IMO skews things somewhat)it seems that next week when all things are counted will give us a far better sense of how Adam's newest work is being accepted. I am so excited for him. This album feels so right for him right now. I honestly feel it won't be ignored and we'll get a tour out of it. Time will only tell what kind of tour will unfold but all is good in my music world right now. If you mean they were not trying to have TOH be #1 on iTunes on album release day? I am sure they would have loved it. But they clearly wanted a strong showing on the presale for the album to influence radio PDs that Adam has fans. They got what they needed. A good showing on the Billboard 200 is very important and looks like TOH will be Top 5. The only question is what spot will it take. (iTunes placement is not predictive, because CD's are almost always very different.) I think James Taylor could be the #1 selling album this week. Question is, who will get #1 on the Billboard 200? JT has no single, little streaming. **** Decisions about touring have little or nothing to do with US Billboard 200 placement. Trespassing was #1 but did not generate enough royalties to support a tour, FYE was #3 and did support a tour. TOH will likely not be #1 in the US but it might sell for more than one week and be around a while.

Alrighty, I will have my knidle fire stream just GT while I am gone today.
I'm kind of curious what "the powers that be" look at when considering a tour since sales of music is in the crapper. My guess would be that streaming numbers might have the biggest influence. They are trying to judge demand for the artist.
ETA what they don't realize is that Glamberts are like Deadheads and will go to 47 concerts if it's feasable :D

With GT at #62 on iTunes, I'm wondering, should it have been higher after Jimmy Fallon? Or is the +40 increase pretty good already? And, Hillary Duff's album on iTunes no.1 still makes me think that she might be a threat for Billboard 200 album charts, but I hope not! I don't see any sign that Hillary Duff is selling much at retail but we don't have any forecasts yet. Later today. ** GT moved from 102 to 62 with the album release and Jimmy Fallon. That is good. It should move up a lot after the GMA performance. And those sale units will really matter this week. ** In 2014, 54% of US album sales were CDs, 6% vinyl, 40% digital. iTunes generate 10% to 40% of an individual artist's album sales -- depending on the artist. In the case of an artist like James Taylor, it could be 10% while for Hilary Duff it might be 30% or 40% of her sales. Plus, Hilary Duff has no presale, modest track sales, and modest streaming -- can't see her grabbing #1. James Taylor seems to be strongest at retail. He had a presale. His audience buys CD and he still is doing well on iTunes. He seems to be like to have the #1 selling album. He also has modest track sales and modest streaming. So he may not get #1 on the Billboard 200. Nate and Adam have track sales and streaming, plus both had presales. TEB should not be counted out. They are selling everywhere I look. I think Adam will beat them. I think that we will have 5 debuts in the Top 10 albums this week -- probably 5 of the top 6 (with Taylor Swift coming in at #3 or so.)

I know that Live Nation (the world's largest concert promoter) looks at sales, radio and streaming.

The only tweets I really keep an eye on are the ones posted at the bottom of this page - the Atopia regulars and their retweets (and Adam's, of course!). Some of the retweets look like new folks to me, and I hope I'm right thinking that there are quite a few folks just now discovering or rediscovering Adam. Am looking at a steady build, as word of mouth keeps things going in the right direction. Simon Savidge @savidgereads@msjackmonroe ooh good song though. I'm telling everyone on earth they NEED the new @adamlambert album. It's soooooooo v v good. Lewis Peters @lewispeterseditHooked! What an amazing album @adamlambert #TheOriginalHigh pic.twitter.com/cQo8PCkRV0 agent chris @itschris96Holy crap this Adam Lambert album is so good Trap Queen. @lizkiksyoBought one song from @adamlambert's new CD and liked it so much that I just bought the entire CD. Oops. ETA: The other great thing about these tweets is that they are not talking about a particular song, but about the album!

The thing about touring is not just if he could tour but the size of the tour he wants to do. I have no doubt at all that he could have toured for Trespassing in the same size venues as GNT. He may have had some tour support money from RCA for that tour but for the most part it was a fairly small scale tour with no main promoter overall. From the little things Adam has said he really wants the next tour to be bigger than GNT and Trespassing did not have the legs to support that.
