Stats for daily views of ALN music video. It's going a little slower than GT's first few days. I'll say that our daily viewing can only do so much. Hope radio and promo kicks in quickly, and then it should follow the same gradual climb of GT. Hoping that it climbs faster and further than GT! The online YouTube stats don't include the last two days which have made a bit of a turnaround and are sending the line back up in a positive direction. I do want to point out a stat that is becoming very important in how YouTubes are ranked and that is the Time Watched tab. You'll see that right now it is hanging out at 2 years. YouTube's ranking algorithm may view Time Watched as just as important or even more important than number of views. searchenginewatch.com/sew/how-to/2218696/youtube-algorithm-change-time-watched-key-to-higher-video-search-rankings This is one of the reasons that watching the entire video and not using the short cut that just watches for 50 seconds to get the view count raised is a good idea. Jablea, what is the impact on ranking if it is only watched for 50 seconds? I don't do that (mainly because I couldn't figure out how to set it!) but many fans do so if there is an adverse effect, people need to know that.

It means that they rank the videos by time watched rather than views so those looping methods that only partially play the video are detrimental to the search ranking. If you do the math on the stats above the total views shown would equal 3.7 years if the video had been watched completely for each view. The higher the discrepancy between the view count and time watched the more it indicates people not watching all the way through. So I would highly recommend fans stop trying to game the system with the partial view looping.

The higher the discrepancy between the view count and time watched the more it indicates people not watching all the way through. So I would highly recommend fans stop trying to game the system with the partial view looping. This discrepancy is present with all video's on YouTube though, but the discrepancy with ALN is pretty big at the moment (2:29 average view time versus 3:50 song). With Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love the discrepancy is also very big with 2:46 average view time and a 4:20 song. With a lot of big songs I just checked out the discrepancy is about 1 minute for an average 3:30-4:30 song. Only the very big songs which were also very popular have a bit lower discrepancy as they went viral. I also suggest we stop with the partial view looping. It's great for the view number, but if YouTube indeed takes the view length into account for search results that's not the desirable effect. The ALN Official Audio video is by the way doing more views still than the Music video. Guess that one shows up more often in the search results.
