Okay. O. K. I get it. Rob Thomas is a nice guy. Rob Thomas has a sick wife. Rob Thomas is involved in charity. Rob Thomas has had many hits over the years and is very successful. Rob Thomas was billed as the top performer for this concert. Rob Thomas has many loyal fans who might just hear Adam and become his fans, too. Adam needs to expand his audience by teaming or opening for more popular artists. Not everyone can sing like Adam, but that doesn't mean they are not good. I get it. Actually, I got it BEFORE all the posts about Rob and the music business. What part of my post was unclear? In CAPS I said I (first person singular referring to oneself and no one else) don't like Adam opening for someone else. I was expressing MY PERSONAL OPINION about what I want to see and hear, not slamming anyone else or their opinions and preferences. An interesting phenomenon of social media is the tendency for folks to argue with a stated opinion, not simple to present their own. I don't know about other people, but my opinions are generally fairly immutable, especially when talking about my own personal preferences. Someone can give me 100 fascinating and uplifting facts about World Wide Wrestling or The Real Housewives or brussel sprouts, and my opinion of them is not going to change. I still like what I like and dislike what I dislike. I hope it is okay to express my opinions on this forum without receiving a lecture or correction. Glad there are many folks who appreciate Rob Thomas and appreciate Adam as an opening act. Even those who love the esthetic of Adam wearing a shirt as a skirt. Diversity means there are plenty of options for every taste. Hey, watch it !!!! I liked the shirt skirt, it kind of flicked when he grinded. :D On the other matter and as an analogy, I had started a post about how I love my children and that even though I could appreciate the better qualities of other people's children, I still think prefer mine any day of the week and want them to have all the good things. Now I do not feel like Adam is my child, because as awesome as he is, he is still no where near as awesome as my kids are to me, but I have been here following Adam for six years so it is quite clear that he is my number one performer and I want for him all the good things my number one performer should have, including but not limited to star billing. I also like brussel sprouts.

Glad there are many folks who appreciate Rob Thomas and appreciate Adam as an opening act. Even those who love the esthetic of Adam wearing a shirt as a skirt. Diversity means there are plenty of options for every taste. I also knew Adam was special guest. I knew who Rob was. I had to look him up because I kept seeing his singles getting lots of spins on HAC even though his itunes positions were really low. I was wondering who is this person who gets automatic spins without much sales and saw that he had a very long successful career. Same thing with Kelly Clarkson and Invincible. It wasn't selling at all but went way higher on HAC than Ghost Town. I just commented on the short set because since there were only two of them, I thought he would get more time. I didn't see anything wrong with what Cassie posted. It was her opinion. I had been asked at Phoenix why I don't post much here any more and I said it was because it seemed like every time I did, someone would argue with my opinion. There is one person in particular who seems like their only posts are to argue with someone's opinion. I actually didn't hear anything special about Leona's voice in that duet but I didn't post that in fear of being jumped on. I hope we can get back to the point where we can express our opinions without being jumped on. I left another another forum for this very reason. I still love this place and will stay in mostly lurk mode if I feel like my opinions keep getting jumped on. Regarding Adam opening for other artists will gain him lots of new fans. Has there ever been any studies that this is the case? It didn't seem to make Kris Allen more sales. Did P2 gain lots of new fans from opening for Jason Mraz? If so, how come his second album didn't do so well? I think it's all about the song and radio's willingness to play it (like Home for P2) and that's why there are artists who seem to come out of nowhere and become the talk of the town. Like Meghan Trainor. Despite Bieber getting negative press, he has made a big comeback because of the song(s). The 20-something males at my work now like Bieber because of the recent songs. Even though the CMT performance was great exposure and I am really glad he did it, I saw no comments on CMT Facebook, YT, and articles where the video was posted from country or Leona fans who had never heard of Adam and were so thoroughly impressed that they said they would go check out his other music. The majority of the comments seemed to be mostly people who were Adam fans or those who had already liked him but had forgotten about him.

Dearest Cassie, I'm not sure the "opposing" opinions to yours were an attempt to change your mind or were meant to be jumping on your post. I think your post simply started a discussion. That's one way discussions with differing viewpoints get started, isn't it? One person expresses an opinion and other state theirs. They may pull in some background info to help make their points. In this case, there are clearly a number of Atop members who don't know who Rob Thomas is. Some of us don't know who anyone popular is, know who what popular when we were young, or are very current and up-to-date. People posted his background since others were saying they didn't know who he was. Clearly some people here share your opinion. Probably many of us have the same desire for him to always be the headliner even though we know there are very logical, business reasons that he is not. I thought the discussion was worthwhile and enjoyed learning more about Rob Thomas. I knew his name but not really anything about him (what's new for me?).

Some of the opposing opinions seemed judgmental, IMO. They start out something like "I just can't believe there are people who think.." or "I came to the forum and was so disappointed to see that some people think..." or "I just can't understand how people can think..."

Sorry, I didn't remember that type of judgemental phrasing, which is not ok.

That's why I decided early on not to got to Vegas. Still, I am so happy that there was tremendous support for Adam even though a big portion of the crowd came primarily for RT. All good, and part of this "business" - exposure, exposure, exposure I feel for those Adam fans though who attended the concert as they expected two equal sets (due to the radio station DJs' confusing statements) as from my own personal experiences I even feel the post concert blues when Adam is headlining.
