Is it possible that it's Hans' and Roxy's house and/or studio, and Adam just hadn't taken his painting to his own home yet? IDK, that wall/hardwood floor looks a lot like the wall in the Adam/Riff pic. Hee, Readon, my neighbors have St. Augustine and yes, it looks very different from fescue. LOOL, I hesitated even responding, because, yes, we are analyzing freaking grass right now. (BRB, calling botanists from the Univ. of California and sending to the lab ...) I like your post, MsZue, trying to remember my Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs; it's been awhile. So is his Id writing checks his Ego can't cash then? (Paraphrasing "Top Gun.")

The wood is the wood at the base of the door jam. The Adam-Roxy photo was taken on a patio. I do not believe that is Adam's home.

Hmmmm --good point Susierfierce--I am trying to remember too.....just remember that at the first/bottom of the pyramid is food and warmth. Than safety and security. Then a sense of belonging, community. Then self-esteem and feeling OK with yourself. and then self-actualization...being the best that you can be..... I hadn't really thought of that in this equation but actually, it fits perfectly as he has reached...for the most part...the self-actualization place where he is prepared to eschew the ego's cautions and ready to take chances!
Yeah for us.....

LOL, I can't believe I'm reading about Maslow's heirarchy of needs here. Got that damn pyramid bashed into my head in nursing school And btw Maslow's model was an alternative to Freud's theories of human motivations. But mszue, I do like your interpretation! And re Maslow, I do think that Adam is in the Self Actualization part of the pyramid. Lucky him www.abraham-maslow.com/m_motivation/Hierarchy_of_Needs.asp

I think that we are all in the Self Actualization part of the pyramid. Otherwise why are we here?

I think that we are all in the Self Actualization part of the pyramid. Otherwise why are we here? Well, ideally, yes. But think about a homeless person. Or a person born in a war-torn, underdeveloped country. They can't get to self-actualize because they are too busy fighting to meet their basic needs. Only when the basic needs are met do you have the energy and luxury of self-actualizing.
