Manchester Evening News Review: Adam Lambert, Manchester AcademyKatie Fitzpatrick welcomed the return of Queen frontman and former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert to the UK for a high-energy show with added tequila
5 Stars Adam Lambert really deserves to be more famous here in the UK.
I was a big fan when he rocked our socks off on American Idol, and ended up bitterly disappointed when the Glam Rock Ken Doll came second to a mellow soul singer.
Because of American Idol he was famous at home in the United States, but for many in the UK their first introduction to this fabulous, flamboyant singer was the 2014 New Year’s Eve celebrations.
There we were, ready to raise a toast to 2015 when Adam sashayed onto our screens as the frontman of Queen, pouting and clad in leather and expertly singing all of their biggest hits on the BBC. Who needed Auld Lang Syne?
And now he’s gone solo for a tour with his third studio album The Original High - and last night we were extremely lucky to have him back for one of just two dates in Britain, after London.
Although he has toured here in his role as Queen’s lead singer - it was his first solo visit to the UK in five years - and what an absolute treat it was.
