oh - I thought Adam got paid for WTTS to be played during the hockey intros and commercials - not the other way around :/ Yes, Adam and WBR would be paid for the usage of WTTS in the hockey intros and commercials. Why would you think they would not be? Are you certain it's not the other way around?

Artists may pay (indirectly) to have radio play their songs. But for songs used in commercials on TV the advertisers would have to pay the artist and record company. I've never head of it being the other way around. It does not make any sense for it to be the other way around. Licensing their music for commercial purposes is one way that artists make money. But Q3 would be the expert on such things. And she did say previously that Adam & WBR would have likely made enough from WTTS being used for the basketball games to pay for the production costs of making the song.

Adam asked, so here is my response (that I will not share publicly) ... AP has a great voice but I don't feel a "connection" when she sings. I liked many of her performances, but I haven't gone back for another listen so far. Nice voice though. On the other hand, the very special artist that is so much adored by this fandom grabs me instantly and often puts me into a different world. It sure speaks for Adam that he doesn't forget to support his friend despite a hectic touring schedule. I feel a connection with Alisan. different strokes for different folks I'm not a fan of belty Alisan as her voice can be a bit sharp in those moments - though do understand those "moments" are grist for reality singing show mill. But loved her performance of River (have watched multiple times). Hoping Xtina gives her something "mad world" like because when she pulls it in and keeps it intimate her voice is quite beautiful.

I asked the same question a couple of days ago. Advertisers usually don't advertise for other people and having all the information Song Name, Artists, Label shown whenever the song is played seems like an unusual arrangement.

Actually that happens all the time. I see it often when a network is hyping new shows, though the text can sometimes be smaller or like 'fine print' and you really have to be looking for it. Licensing music as a soundtrack for visual images is referred to as Synchronization Rights and many entities are likely paid. Here is a link for those interested in the legalese.... entertainmentlaw.uslegal.com/music-industry/synchronization-rights/Use of the original recording also requires the Master Rights License. musicians.about.com/od/ip/g/masterlicense.htm

Yes, the studio version of Alisan's River is lovely!
