Thanks so much for posting this, Cassie. I found it really interesting, especially in the context of Adam's career. I completely get what Adam is talking about when he says he's not "openly gay singer" Adam Lambert, that he wants to be known as a singer first, that who he chooses to sleep with is just one small fact about him. Hooray for him and for that attitude. (It's not "gay marriage," it's just marriage, amen.) But I think this guy has an interesting attitude, too. He's embracing his gayness also as a form of artistic expression--as a part of a powerful cultural creative force in the music industry that has long been undervalued and appropriated and taken advantage of by other parties, who steal credit for fear of the label. So that he says expressly that he writes not just "pop" but "gay pop," and thinks of it not as labeling himself or boxing himself in but as giving credit where credit is due. And he clearly celebrates Adam's work as a wonderful, exuberant example of that creative force. Might rub some people the wrong way, but I was interested and impressed. Here's the Adam reference for those of you who are curious: "I’ve been trying to convince industry big-wigs for over 15 years that housewives and teenage girls couldn’t care less how gay a pop star is. The huge platform of American Idol proved that to be true with Adam Lambert. And his concert I went to in New York was the most exciting and brazenly flamboyant pop show I’ve seen since Boy George." Oh, and glittergma: I love "In My Life." That song has a lot of special meaning for me, too. Thanks for posting it. Hugs. Hope things chill out a bit for you soon. It's nice to see you posting.

Hey, MWP!! Good to see you, too!! You just said exactly what I thought about that article. I so agree!! Glad you liked *In My Life* vid. It is special, in so many ways. Was played at a dear friends service. He was an amazing DJ and a very good friend of mine. As far as RL goes, it will all work out ok. Just lots of transitions going on, lots of new peeps at work. Not much room for them right now, so they are taking over our space. But, it's all good. We'll be moving to a new, fantastic facilty in about 2.5 weeks. I was there last weekend, and it is so amazing!!! But, the unfortunate thing is, is that it's a much longer drive for me, to the tune of 1/2 hour opposed to about 7 minutes. Oh well, they say the price of gas is going down. I'm sending ~hugs~ right back at ya!!! I'm enjoying some music tonight, and Adam F. Lambert, EP is coming up next!!! WOOOOOOOOOTTTTT!!! I starve myself, so I can enjoy it that much more!! hahahahaha!! (sick, but true)

This poster is amazing; so damn cool. Love it. Love the implications (i.e., he's a big star). And I've always loved that photo of him. Other random comments: Also loved JD Boucharde's comments on Adam's impromptu Father's Day performance in San Diego, as well as the crowd's reaction. Awesome. <3 And YAY New York. And yay for Adam in the NYTimes online banner. I <3 NY! Wonder if Adam's event inquiry at the museum a few weeks ago was for an engagement party... Just hope he's mostly focused on the album. But if anyone can multi-task, Adam can. And I love how confident he's sounding about the work he's doing. I may be in a small minority, but I'm very glad he's given himself some time away from Sauli to just concentrate on the music. I think it's tough to concentrate on work when you're head over heels in love. It is kind of interesting that the paps seem much more likely to catch him with Sauli. I guess he goes out prepared for that, whereas now he probably dresses down and keeps his head down and maybe goes out unshaven and dishevelled, lol. Have an opportunity to go to Quebec. LOTS of practical reasons NOT to go, but I'm leaning toward YES. Even though most people in my RL will probably think I'm insane. But that's nothing new, haha. Has anyone else considered breaking off relationships with friends and CHILDREN because they just don't get it? Ok, I wouldn't really do that, but I did consider it, lol. I've influenced a couple of friends to be casual fans, but there are a lot of people, my children included, who would probably have been more receptive if I hadn't been so damn EXCITED about him. :( Pretty sure they think my interest is driven by my libido and not my brain. I think they would like him but they won't give him a chance. It's partly my excessive pimping/obsession, and partly AI snobbery, and partly a snobbery about pop music in general. Sigh. Of course, a few other friends DID give him a chance, and the result is that they think he's talented, but just not their thing. (Mostly related to style of music. But they don't realize he can do ANYTHING!). Babble, babble. Back to lurking...

Midwifespal, liked your comments about the article Cassie posted. Reminded me of Adam's exhortation (after the GLAAD performance) for more diversity in the LGBT community. Labels/no labels -- two different approaches to authentic self-expression. Glittergma, love Rubber Soul and In my life...thanks for posting that.

You're quite welcome. I was just going to reply to your earlier post. I have tried, very, very gently to bring my CHILDREN (my 2 sons) into Adams music. Total BRICK WALL!!! ARGGGGG!!! LOL!! I can laugh about it now, cause I'm gonna have the last laugh, for sure!! But, for real, I'm still wanting, needing them to love him too. Why? Because, my sons have always loved my music. Plain & simple. Not to say I have always loved theirs, but...but...hahaha! I do think, in time, they will come around. My youngest son said that it's just not his thing. Oldest said pretty much the same thing, but I know for sure he hasn't even listened. Sent youngest son the CD. Doubt if he ever listened to it, or at least, the whole thing. DIL (married to oldest son) really likes Adam. This is a good thing..lol! Oldest son has more likings towards Daughtry type music. Not specificly, though. I just think he's heard more of this type of music. I will work on it..lol!! Seriously, my sons wore out some of my old, 8 track tapes, back in the *day* hahaha!! Yep, dating myself, but don't care. I'll get them there, one way or another, for sure!! Neither son is homophobic. And, that's amazing in itself, considering their dad. ugh! But, I stand tall, and will not put up with any of *his* bs, when he's around my Grandson. He's done that...and Ga'ma has definately spoken UP!!! Just how I roll!!!
