My husband is Jewish, and when I first read that QAL would be performing in Oswiecim, I told him about this stop on the tour, and asked him how he felt about them performing there. I noticed a deep sadness rush over his face and he paused before he said,"Well, Adam is Jewish, isn't he? Maybe his voice can bring joy to that place of such horrific sorrow and madness." He also remarked how many of the Queen songs are so uplifting {he especially loves Radio Gaga--his favorite from the one QAL concert that he accompanied me} and he said it was hard for him to imagine such a contrast to the suffering and dreadful loss of relatives who are long gone.I could tell he has mixed feelings-as do I,but I know and trust that Brian, Roger and Adam will be performing ,ever mindful of the past, with dignity and love for all those unforgotten souls,as well as their loved ones who are living today--a shining testament that love lives on and endures in spite of everything. I wondered if anyone else was effected emotionally about this stop in Oswiecim (Auschwitz). The name Oswiecim is used in all of the advertisements, as far as I could tell. (Auschwitz) was never used. I might be wrong about that. I'm just talking about the advertisements I'VE SEEN.. My late father-in-law lived in Poland and spent five years in a concentration camp, and he lost more family members to that unspeakable hell than I can count. I understand this concert is about peace, love, joy, and a brighter future, but some agony runs so deep it is ingrained in your very soul forever.

I've written about my emotions the moment I saw the announcement about this event...It makes me shudder every time I see or hear the name of this place...it makes no difference to me in what language it is used... while my mind tells me the festival was created to honor LIFE my feelings are of horror and pain...I hope something will be said from that stage by both Brian and Adam...and I want today to be behind us already...
