Queen + Adam Lambert, the report and the lineup of the concert in Piazzola sul Brenta of June 25, 2016WRITTEN BY ALESSANDRO MELA ON JUNE 26, 2016
There are big black clouds of Piazzola sul Brenta. The wait for the Queen + Adam Lambert is full of suspense, and the public is a bit 'on your toes: the illuminated stage and the background music delude themselves that the curtain will fall within a minute or two, however it takes a dozen; the guy in front of me restarts the video about eight times, and chances are good you've run out of space on the memory card well before the concert.
Masterfully to introduce the band thinks the theme of "Flash", followed by a bomb starting with "The Hero" and "One Vision".
At first glance,
one can not but be impressed by the look and the attitude of Adam Lambert, who with nail studded and two pairs of sunglasses shows you immediately master the stage. Among the first pieces stand out a hard-fought "Stone Cold Crazy."
Brian May and Roger Taylor are shown for what they are: two rock legends who have nothing to prove to anyone, and can relax and enjoy the evening doing what it is better. The lineup, is the best any fan of Queen might ask in the first half we find the funk of "Another One Bites The Dust", the rock of "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Do not Stop Me Now" and the romance of "Somebody To Love" and "Play The Game".
In the middle it changes a bit 'register without abandoning the classic: Brian May sings (and makes sing to the public) "Love Of My Life", supported only by acoustic guitar,
while "A Kind Of Magic" Roger Taylor gives chopsticks his son Rufus Tiger, former drummer of the Darkness , to challenge the microphone. Following a fascinating "Drum Battle" father against son, then he comes a dedication to David Bowie and you take off on "Under Pressure" notes, engraved by the Queen and the White Duke in 1982.
Including "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "Tie Your Mother Down" you place a high moment of Brian May rate: the guitarist is raised by a platform and surrounded by a red light and blue, while the background stands a ' space image. The solo, "Last Horizon", is emblematic of May:
every note of his guitar has that unmistakable sound and steel, real trademark that has greatly contributed to the characterization of the band.
The evening before the encore, culminating in the double formed by "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Radio GaGa". "
Bohemian Rhapsody" is sung along with the ghost of Freddie, that appears on the screen and spreads from the speakers with the public emotion sum , which shares the "shiver down my spine" of which he sings the song.
In closing we find the combo par excellence: "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions", inflated by too many television appearances in sports but still a masterpiece.
Lambert knows how to act with the public, given the delicate situation in which he finds:
Freddie Mercury is an icon of reach, and he knows how to know your audience; for this we would like to emphasize as much as he loves Freddie us, appearing as a fan who is lucky enough to be able to pay homage to singing his songs, without giving life to ridiculous and unnecessary competition.
When referring to someone who will go to see a Queen concert with Adam Lambert, the reaction is almost always the same: yeah but Freddie was Freddie. Yes, exactly.
Freddie was Freddie, and his music is fortunately still with us; we can listen to it and play it when we want. A gig like to think of it, it is a victory at the start: the Queen songs are also heard by a wonderful mobile phone on a bus, let alone played since May and Taylor with a stage animal like Adam Lambert.
1986 was thirty years ago, and the concert at Wembley as well, but you can still hear some great songs performed by excellent musicians.
