Hi everyone, mostly a lurker here, but since it's a slow day...My 22 year old son recently saw Panic at the Disco perform Bohemian Rhapsody at Summerfest to a very large crowd. Knowing what a huge AL fan I am, he informed me that the lead singer from Panic was amazing and was a better singer than AL, as this singer hit some really high notes. He tried to show me a you tube, but the audio quality was poor so it was hard to tell. I looked up another version, which had over 5,000,000 views! Wow, was I surprised since I don't think any of QAL's versions come close to that amount, although we are blessed with so many versions. Which brings me to my questions. Does anyone have a particular QAL Bohemian Rhapsody that they would recommend I could show my son? Also, what does Cassie or anyone else think of Panic's version. I thought it had high energy and was pretty good, but to my very untrained ears, Adam's voice seemed far superior to the singer from Panic, although I did enjoy it. I don't want to start any wars of my singer is better than yours, but I am curious what anyone thinks. Finally, I am not sure how to post a you tube so maybe someone could add Panic's version.

I see a ton of online comments saying that Brendan is better than adam. I believe there is a YouTube video somewhere comparing them ETA - there was a video but it's now unavailable and the comments are gone

I think I would just refer anyone who doubts that AFL can sing Queen songs, better than any living human to Dr. Brain May and Mr. Rodger Taylor. I'm quite sure they'll confirm what we already know.

Seashell, great to hear talent appreciates talent! My son was enthralled with their show. They were coheadlining with Wheezer and got a raving review from our newspaper as well.

I believe there is a YouTube video somewhere comparing them ETA - there was a video but it's now unavailable and the comments are gone I found a professional video of a live performance. ht tps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBe5Lja6cY (Remove the space between the two tt to link. I didn't want to post the actual video.) As far as my opinion.... what is this obsession with hitting high notes? Even if they are weak, wobbly or off pitch? High does not necessarily equal good. Comparing Adam's rendition and Brendan's is comparing apples and ... potatoes. Adam's voice is very highly trained. Brendan's is..... not. Like comparing a Ferrari and a Honda Civic. They can drive the same roads, the same route, but the ride is very different. Nothing wrong with a Civic. A very practical, capable, economical car loved by millions. It will reliably get you where you want to go in relative comfort. A Ferrari is a different beast. From a technical point of view I could tell you many things about Brendan's voice and how I can tell instantly that it is not trained, and has flaws. But that, I have learned, will just piss off fans of the other guy and garner accusations that I am elitist, a snob, biased, and it's all subjective. His fans love him, and love Panic's rendition of this classic. There is room for both. Go to the show with the singer who floats your boat. (I am not looking up their touring schedule on the internet, tho'.)

I am in a rush here so posting and running. We have seen pics of Adam and Brendan together and they are friends, I think. This iteration of Brandon's version is quite weak but ... there you go. He flits in and out of falsetto often missing the note slightly or wobbling like he will fall off any moment. There is really no comparison... IMHO

I listened to the live performance of Panic and there's no comparison in my opinion. Weak on the high end and a couple of really off key notes. I know these things happen in a live performance, but Jeez, just not even close. I was impressed however at the styling on stage, right out of the book of Queen. They went all out!! I don't know why people continue to compare Adam to whomever. I feel it's just to dis Adam and not compliment the other.

(I am not looking up their touring schedule on the internet, tho'.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but has Adam ever sung the whole song by himself? We've seen and heard him sing it with Queen, of course, but that's with the video of Freddie singing a chunk of the song. Does Brendan just sing the whole song by himself? I'm sure his voice is very good, and as Adam himself has said, "it's not about the voice" anyway. People love who they love and will always defend the singers they love as being "the best." But, as I say, I don't recall ever hearing Adam sing the entire song by himself. Surely Panic is not using the classic Queen video of the four Queen members singing their recorded part. Just curious. I'm amazed at the millions of hits on Panic's video. Adam rarely hits those numbers on YouTube, at least so quickly. Good to know that Adam and Brendan know each other.
