Would that be problem if he sang MW? I mean its a performance he is famous for, people would instantly recognise. I woulden't have a problem with it persay. But I would prefer a brand new cover. He could become the new Elvis, and do a Elvis cover haha. A Change is Gonna Come could be appropriate. Neither a change is gonna come nor any Elvis song is from that time period

Better than him singing wwfm again. I hope it's at least a cover we haven't heard. Please let it be Sweet Child o' Mine ...and please NOT Mad World.... The song has to be from the period 1980-2005, so Mad World is possible. However, another possibility is "Another One Bites the Dust", which was released in 1980. It was a #1 on the Billboard chart here in the U.S. Given that Adam is Queen's singer, it would make sense for him to sing it. ETA: Crazy Little Thing Called Love was also a hit in the U.S. in 1980, so another possibility. Saw some folks suggest maybe a Bowie song, which would be great. Let's Dance and Modern Love would qualify in the show's timeframe. ETA2: Bowie's song China Girl was a top 10 hit in the U.S. in 1983, so it's another option.

We will get to see Adam on TV! That is great and I am definitely thinking a Bowie tribute.

Hmm yeah now I Think about it, this maybe Adams chance to do a Bowie Tribute on Live tv. The only good one was Lorde imo. So Adam would kill it.

If he is on a major primetime US show lineup. I don't care if he sings the phonebook. I don't think it matters, if its a cover. Does that matter?

In the article it says that the finale is Live. So that is possible. I don't know. Broadway World also has an article about the finale on August 4th: www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/Scoop-GREATEST-HITS-on-ABC-Thursday-August-4-2016-20160718Scoop: GREATEST HITS on ABC - Thursday, August 4, 2016 Greatest Hits Live Finale: 1980-2005” – The summer party culminates with a live two-hour finale featuring some of the most iconic and thrilling music artists of the 80s, 90s and 2000s performing their greatest hits. Special appearances include Celine Dion performing “My Heart Will Go On” from Montreal and a Whitney Houston tribute by Ariana Grande. Hosted by actor and comedian Arsenio Hall and country music star Kelsea Ballerini, “Greatest Hits” will broadcast LIVE from the Microsoft Theatre on THURSDAY, AUGUST 4 (9:00–11:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network. Additional artists and performances to be announced at a later date. Hmmmm, thanks! This sounds legit! So this live performance is on August 4, and XFactor AU boot camp is July 28 and 29... If he's doing both... wow. Can't remember which direction of travel is the worst for jet lag, but that can't be easy. I imagine there would be a day of rehearsal before the Greatest Hits show.
