Adam never wins anyway. If he is wailing and moving, he is called indecent, think Amas. If he is reserved, and vocally restrained, oh he is too stiff lol. It's like make your mind up, what do you want from Adam Lambert as an artist. As for gM fans hating the performance. Well is that a surprise? Learnt something after the whole Queen thing. People cannot suspend their disbelif, no matter the Quality of a performance. I guess if anyone covers Adams WWFM or Ghost Town, were the same. I feel though Adam is very polarizing. You don't see anyone else getting this when they cover? Why? Because Adam is threatning. I beleive they are responding because its good, so they feel they need to degrade it, over oh this guy could be better then GM, he needs to be eliminated lol. It is just the internet. It is the same with RHPS now.

Sometimes I feel as if I have entered an alternate dimension. My musical background is primarily classical, with a side of musical theater, and a soupcon of jazz and American songbook numbers. In none of those genres does anyone care that the performers did not compose the tunes. In fact, most of the time, the composers are NOT also performers, even if they are not long dead. Within that context, it seems absurd that performers are not considered worthy if they do not write their own material, and that one performer has the exclusive and only valid version of the composition.
The fact is the talent and skill of musical composition is separate from the talent and skill of performing a piece. Just like acting requires different skills from writing. The work of an excellent composer or author should shine through as long as the actors/singers/musicians are competent. The work of an excellent musician or actor should move the audience even if the material is not profound.
When I hear Beethoven's Ninth Symphony I do not think, "Gee, the London Philharmonic does it much better than the New Your Philharmonic." I think, "I LOVE this deeply moving music." When I hear a gifted singer perform "Cry Me a River" I don't think, "Nobody sings this like Ella. No one else should be allowed to sing it, they are butchering it."
I just don't get the whole singer/songwriter/original performer thing.

I don't really think it has anything to do with the singer/songwriter/original performer thing....I think it has everything to do with rabid fanbases and jealousy that someone else is performing their cupcake's music...especially should that particular performer be talented, as in Adam's case.
IMO.

Of course I try not to dis anyone else when I do it! (not always successful) lol All the more reason for Adam to continue to record new material. In this generation it seems a must! Looking back, if Adam had done that cover album that RCA wanted he'd have a whole album of songs for people to bitch about! WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO. 100% agree! But let me also respond to some others' comments about Adam getting criticzed for covers. That only comes from the original artist's stans. Adam gets plenty of great recognition for his covers! My advice, just ignore the comments. No one has to validate Adam to me. I know how incredible he is!
