www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZc_FV9XnvY main points of the narration - televised yesterday: - biggest show of the year - the row of black cars was waiting for the one of the most important band of all time -55K tickets sold, everyone hopes Adam Lambert will be able to reveal the essence of FM, who passed away 25 years ago - FM would've just turned 70, Lambert is 34 - Adam spent his time in his hotel in Hertzelia today - you can catch soundcheck tomorrow and avoid traffic jams with over 60K people expected at the park - they are leaving Israel the next day - on Tuesday, continuing to the East - Singapore, Japan, China, HK, Thailand.. -600 security guards, costing 700K shekels -expecting massive sing alongs, given performance of so many hits -success for the promoter: biggest GOlden RIng EVER with 8K tickets sold out at 640-800 shekel , there are still tickets for the lawn at 390 shekel [1 ILS = 0.26 USD, so just divide by 4]

I don't know how to quote from yesterday's thread, so I'm copying from stampsgal post: The cheapest tickets went for 340 shekels, which is us$90. In Guy Pines' show last night they mentioned there will be 600 security guards, which coast around 700,000 shekels (about US$185,000). Does anyone know what the Golden Circle tickets sold for? ETA: NVM, just saw it in Nica's post! So, my little brain just figured out that this concert is grossing, on ticket sales alone, about 7 million!!! Fair to say, the guys are doing quite well on this show alone! Ha, ha! This show is probably "covering" the whole tour! $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

The conversation re the big payday on this particular concert makes me as happy as pattihum's dancing cats!
We will never know the contract value to Queen, and Adam, but they have been around the block, and are smart and will get a fantastic payday off this concert. They just need the final transfer of funds! ---------------------------------- And, the conversation re money and festivals also caused me to do some googling. The link below is an article written in 2013. Most interesting to me were brief paragraphs on UK festivals cancelled in 2012, the summer the UK hosted the Olympics. (The Sonisphere festival cancellation caused QAL to organize the 3 Apollo shows.) "Explosive festival growth in Europe has sprouted 2,500-3,000 festivals yearly and 670 in England alone, a 73 percent increase since 2003. That's a lot more than here and cause for suggestions of over-saturation.
Last year, it reached a breaking point. More than a dozen major English festivals shut down (Big Chill, Sonisphere, Cloud 9), thanks to the EU's ongoing financial troubles, Olympic competition (Glastonbury cited an expected shortage of porta-potties), and a very rainy summer. Market saturation, combined with the difficulty finding big enough acts for fans to justify the several-hundred-dollar expenditure, also contributed to the situation."
Who would have "thunk" that part a decision to not have one of the biggest and best festivals, Glastonbury, was a lack of port a potties! LOL And the predicted bad weather in the UK was so true! To fill the 9 days abroad to see QAL, I was sightseeing. The rain and wind were horrific at Stonehenge and Bathe, and it rained most days in London. One day it rained so fast/hard, that the road a block from our Band B literally filled to overflowing onto the sidewalks, and sadly down to the lower level stores. The 3 day Sonisphere festival would have been a damp affair!
The only damp affair tonight will be the guys sweating away, singing and playing their hearts out for 55,000!www.laweekly.com/music/the-economics-of-music-festivals-whos-getting-rich-whos-going-broke-4167927
