As promised, my recap for the surreal experience I had last night: (This was my first time catching QAL live. Hopefully not my last.) I headed over to the F1 circuit with a couple of friends at about 4pm. They really set up a huge festival. I grabbed some bites, and discussed whether we should go to the Padang Stage to catch Bastille (the same stage where QAL would later perform) or the Esplanade stage to catch PTX (a distance away from the Padang Stage). We decided to catch Bastille just in case we couldn't get a good place to catch QAL later. So my friends and I sat there on the grass patch, just chatting. At about 7pm, the crowd started forming. We got up and found a good position, about 5 metres away from the stage. 8pm, Bastille came on. Sang a few of their songs from their old album, which I had streamed before. A few new ones, which were totally foreign to me. Up till this point the crowd wasn't reacting to them that well. But once they played their final song, the hit "Pompeii", everyone was happily singing and dancing along. They got off the stage, and the F1 race bagan. I was hoping that the crowd would clear so that I could get an even better position, but they didn't budge. They were all here for Queen, obviously. So between the two concerts, there was 1.5 hours of waiting time. We all just planted our feet on the ground and waited (my legs ached but who cares? Queen was up next) Watched some of the race on the screen, talked to the people around us. There was this guy who kept nudging me backwards away from the stage. I overheard his girlfriend telling him that she was really thirsty but had no water. I offered the girl some water that I had, she thanked me profusely. And her boyfriend stopped nudging me backwards We watched the Queen crew set up the stage -- a lot of setting up, alot of equipment and light/sound/equipment tests. We even got trolled by one of the crew members who had Brian's hair. Some people thought Brian had come on stage early hahaha. Then they suddenly dropped the huge Queen curtain. People screamed. We could no longer see the stage. You could tell that excitement was slowly building. The QAL logo lit up on the screens. People screamed more. The intro video played. People yelled. And then the curtain was GONE, revealing the band! People went wild. "Fear me, you lords and lady preachers. I descend upon your earth from the skies. I command your very souls you unbelievers. Bring before me what is mine! The seven seas of rhye!" That voice I've always heard on my phone and computer -- now directly into my ears! I thought, maybe I should've taken a spot a little further away from the stage. His glorious voice was a little soft through the speakers blasting into my ears. And then he and Brian strut down the stage extension and I lost it. I screamed and cheered. Song after song after song after song. People couldn't stop singing along. A few people around me broke into tears. I wanted to cry too, but I probably didn't consume enough water for my eyes to produce tears. Brian had a few guitar issues -- one time he broke a guitar string, another time his guitar was not feeding to the speakers. But the crew was professional, fixed it within seconds. Then I suddenly realised it. I was standing here, singing along in the presence of legendary men. They would've seen my face (albeit for a fraction of a second) as their eyes swept across the crowd. And that's a big crowd there. The media put the crowd size at 90,000. I knew the singing was pretty audible, but I couldn't have guessed such a big crowd. 90,000 people immersing themselves in the glorious music of Queen and becoming increasingly impressed by Adam's big BIG voice. Then I realised that Adam and Queen just fit so well. Like you guys have said in yesterday's thread, it's almost as if Adam has become part of Queen. He was no longer a "new guy" or "guest singer". He now fits so damn well with Queen. I'm pretty sure this thought resonated amongst all the other 89,999 people. My friend (she's a Queen fan) said that she knew Queen's catalogue is out of this world, and that Adam had an amazing voice, but she never expected QAL to work so well together. I've also seen other posts on social media. People said that Adam is truly a worthy and fitting frontman for the band now. I couldn't agree more. I saw an Adam that took control of the stage, of the show. In fact, I compare this experience with the one I had during NYE -- it's very different. During NYE, I was watching it to hear Adam and his songs. Last night, QAL was all about Queen. The atmosphere was so epic, and my friend said, she even felt the presence of Freddie. I really don't know how to describe the experience I had to you in words. Perhaps words are not the best form of expression of my wild experience last night. I urge you to watch the videos on YouTube. I watched some of them. But it still doesn't compare to what I went through last night. It was an out-of-this-mundane-world experience. Right now, I actually feel like a different person. I don't just have that post-concert depression. I actually feel inspired. The music and experience has empowered me, for some reason. I only have one regret: I wish I hadn't watched so many QAL videos before I watched the show for myself. I'd have loved to be shocked and surprised and taken on an unexpected ride at how amazing QAL is. Maybe the next time. I wish there'll be a next time. How much fun did I have? Well, I think this picture says it all: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKfjPwdgZ9M

Q3, I always think of this when I watch QAL! Imagine, at their ages, for Brian and Roger to be experiencing this again! It must be like a miracle to them!

I do remember Live Aid was probably their most critically acclaimed performance. Probably the best live performance by any group or solo act in history. But generally QAL get's more positive reviews. Sign of the times? Would Freddie be more accepted currently? Hard to say, probably. But if Adam never watched Waynes World. Queen never approved Bohrap, none of this would even be happening. Playing these massive shows in 2016, has to be fate. Or a miracle.
