I have had a nasty day [fridge/freezer died so had to find a new home for my partially melted freezer food...I rent so am at the mercy of a slow landlady] sigh...so finally am taking the time to add my 2 cents worth. First...Adam was terrific and I find it hard to believe all other critics are wrong and this one right! That said...I think they were missing the iconoclastic nature of the original and perhaps were looking for something unexpected from Adam. They got good but they did not get different or dangerous. If you were following the spirit of the original rather than the example of it...Eddie would have been much more memorable if he had entered in the spirit of his GNT entrances...now that would have fit the spirit of the show far more....and set the room in a spin!! Can you just imagine!! That is what the original did when Frankenfurter showed up.....SHOCKING....that is what people loved about the show. In that millieur, Eddie in his masculinity provided a shock of his own....in this version, it is only the power of Adam's performing ability that provides the tension...not the character or shock factor... Do I make sense? This is nothing negative about Adam...he did as he was directed and did it superbly. And showed us how he is growing as an actor!! Compare this performance to Pretty Little Liars...massive growth. I am sorry about your refrigerator...bummer!! I hope your landlady takes care of it quickly!

Compare this performance to Pretty Little Liars...massive growth. Sure, they could have added more of a shock factor to Adam's "Eddie" by making him a whole different character (GNT style for instance) ... but I think they experimented with the role of Frank-N-Furter already and probably didn't want to stray too far from the original with all of their characters. While I think that a very different "Eddie" could have been fun, it might have also distracted from Adam's singing and acting capabilities and a direct comparison with Meatloaf, which Adam fared spectacularly well in. About 1% of negative reviews isn't too bad I think, considering that some write-ups might like to push the Glambert buttons.

I wish the Rollingstone dude had clarified why he thought Adam was a miscast. Was it because he was not overweight and non-sexy like Meatloaf? Or was it because HE could not see him as a love interest for Columbia? Did he think he was not believable as a rock n roller despite him being the frontman for Queen? And it would have been great if he had told us all the people who out sang Adam. And his part did not really require much dancing but I'm sure Adam could have delivered if required.
Adam did a great job and most of the reviews acknowledged that even if they did not like the show.

Eddie has a history in the plot of RHPS. It is very important to the story. Don't changing him would be a good idea.
