Looking at the studio picture again, it doesn't look that recent compared to how Adam looks today it seems older.....but Adams look can change so quick L.o.L The jacket he is wearing is from when he sang Evil In The Night from XFactorAU. So October 31. I'm just so happy that he is working on new music with that team. I love After Hours as well as TOH. After Hours was such a sexy af song when he sang it. lol Yay! New music is being brainstormed.

To see Adam alive in front of you is unbelievable experience It doesn't matter what clothes he has on. I have seen him twice and I'm not recovered yet It's hard to explain, just he is so GORGEOUS looking man Yes exactly!!! But those meet & greets go by SO fast. It's like a dream I wish I had not woken up from. How I wish I could sit down and have a real conversation with Adam!!! When I stumbled towards him at Vienna photo option I managed to splutter: " Adam, I love your music and shows, Warsaw was great! (the latest show I have attended)". He smiled beautifully (you know ) and took me in his armpit. I try to repeat that moment over and over again. Can you imagine, I'm 71 years old grandmother

I guess, tastes just differ and of course that's totally cool. I agree that the final version has much more modern production. The original one is only a demo, so that is to be expected that way. Overall I interpret TOH a bit differently than you, I suppose. To me, Adam describes being stuck, but driven to try again and again in vain to chase that original high, always hoping for it, but in the end never finding it. The beat describes for me that drive to attempt it again and again, but the steadiness and limited range of the song manifests that element of not ever reaching that high. The drug allusion is laid out as a comparison, like a junkie who is trying to get his next fix to replicate that original high. The desperation in that recognition that you are chasing something you can't have is palatable. In the newer version, the topics get blended together, leaving it a bit more unclear what high the singer tries to go after and how. Ambivalence can be a good thing at times, but I don't think it worked here really, because it leaves the listener a bit confused. Many dj's tried to get clarification from Adam on that one too. Some folks may like that ambivalence, but for me it did not work on this song, until I heard the demo. The original song is much more streamlined and much clearer, imo. Add to that, that vocally, I don't think this was the right song to try out falsetto experiments. I dunno, it seems artificially placed. TOH was not really my favorite on the album, as you can probably tell, lol, but that demo version would have totally been at the top of my list, together with GhostTown of course, which I loooove. Different folks - different strokes. I agree about the falsetto. I much prefer Adam's full voice. The way he finally settled on singing TOH live is the best.
I see your point about how you are interpreting the song. It's kind of like the CS Lewis book "Surprised by Joy". But even in that book, at the end of searching many years for that original joy (same thing as "high" in this context) and not finding it, he finally, after much searching, finds a new type of joy that's even better. I guess that's kind of how I see it. They can be something very fun and very exhilarating about chasing after that original high. But I guess if you can never find it, or something even better, then it can start to get depressing, which is what I think you're trying to say if I understand you correctly. Adam says the original high for him was the thrill of performing onstage when he was a youngster. And then he chased after that high into his adulthood. But I think Adam has now found a new and even bigger high with his career as a solo artist. So I think he is still chasing that original high but has actually found that feeling again and it's exciting and thrilling for him. So that's where I'm coming from.
There I Said It is still my favorite on the album! I love There I said it too. And yes to everything you are saying here! Love that Adam stays positive and looks for the positive view of things always. I think that while Adam is depression prone by nature and has talked about that a few times too, he works hard to engage in lots of things that will keep him always having a positive outlook, as well as find alternate things that keep him positive, like family and friends, other activities, spiritual life, having a huge social life and so on. One way to deal with emotion obviously is to write or sing about it, kind of like songwriting therapy, and my thinking is that Adam is writing such a song like TOH, because that is what he feels and to get it off his chest, but he also writes it to share. He feels this longing for this high, and describes it so well in TOH. And yes, with time other things become 'highs' that are worth chasing. I guess, I need to pick up C S Lewis again. Have read quite a few others, but not that one.
