I can't access Atop from my laptop. Google chrome tells me it's a server problem. I can access Atop on my phone or tablet though. Does anyone have the same problem? On yesterday's thread some people said Adam messed up his performance in Divas. I assume they meant the Ray of Light performance, and wanted to say he didn't. He couldn't hear himself at first and sang very softly, but he didn't mess up even one note. People who don't know him as well as we do, couldn't even tell that something was wrong. Please watch from 13:30, it's actually very enjoyable: vimeo.com/55907941 Ada was off pitch at the beginning because he could not hear his own voice. It is pretty impressive that he was as close to pitch as he was, and that many folks could not hear that he was flat. They fixed the problem about when he sang "And I feel...", when you hear his voice become bright, ringing and confident. Then he shouts, "There it is!" and is off and running. Certainly that is not a "screw up."
As others have remarked, Adam is very consistent in his performances and misses the mark pitch wise very rarely. I agree that he is more accurate pitch-wise live than most other pop singers I have heard. This is partly due to his naturally good ear for pitch. More importantly, it is indicative of his extensive training as a singer. It is rather like the expert marksman. The marksman has to have very good eyesight but most importantly, has to hone his skill thru hours, months and years of training and practicing.
While that kind of consistency is rare in pop music, and is not even considered all that important, in the world of musical theater it is an absolute requirement. Without that kind of consistency, you don't get cast in a show. Period. You have no career except in non-singing roles.
It reminds me of a remark Angelina once made to me when I was raving about something Adam did that was extraordinary in the pop world. "But, that's what we DO!" In other words, she considers him as a peer along side her musical theater and opera colleagues, and she expects nothing less from him.
But that's what HE DOES !

But that's what HE DOES !And Adam didn't stop the show and ask for a redo .. IMHO this is very unprofessional.. I really loved Adele's Hello but was stunned when she asked for doover for tribute to George Michaels... Adam's advice to Isaiah when you forget the words,etc.." just keep going". You don't get do overs except in rehearsals .. just saying did Gaga get to stop the show because of sound issues...Usually you just have to move on and hope for the best.. Can't imagine Adele doing a Broadway show...

But that's what HE DOES !Thanks, cassie. I remember when I watched it live, I turned white and said " whoa, what happened there?!?" But watching back, I realized that most people couldn't see that anything happened at all. It was still better than so many pop acts we're used to watch. ETA I see I erased the first paragraph of your post, cassie. I don't know what I'm doing with this tablet...

We often talk about what a perfect duet partner Adam is, adapting himself to and never overshadowing the other person. At the end here, when Adam and James are doing STL, I find Adam crouches a lot more than usual. I think he's aware he'll tower over Corden height-wise and wants to downplay it. The voice is enough.

But that's what HE DOES !Yes, to both of you. I never thought he screwed up Divas. The equipment failed him briefly. He recovered like a champ.
