cassie, I have probably mentioned that I am a fervent Ella Fitzgerald fan. I was listening to this and I realized that the tone, or timbre of her voice actually gave me goosebumps. It got me to pondering that while I do like Alison Porter's voice, when she gets into the higher ranges to my ears her voice is grating (hair raising in a different way, I guess ). YMMV. Which then got me to thinking that Adam's voice can also raise the hairs on my arms, like Ella, such a visceral uncontrollable reaction. And it does not ever sound screechy or harsh to me at all. And I am going to go there: comparing the smoothness, the tone or timbre of Adam's voice to Ella's. There, I said it. So cassie, any truth to my feeling? Melodius, rich, smooth, honeyed, you know how when you hear an owl the sound just seems to resonate inside your body (probably not a good description, but I know what I mean ). As Melinda Doolittle said about Adam's voice, "Adam Freaking Lambert. Liquid gold. Like it seriously sounds expensive to me. Like there is something otherworldly about his voice." (Top video at the below link) tvline.com/2016/03/21/reality-check-american-idol-sonika-dalton-top-5-elimination-video/I think this is why I keep wishing for an album of standards by Adam. That voice, those songs, well, the thought of that is just a little slice of heaven and feels for me. Some I'd like to hear him sing: and of course, both iconic and pertinent: And I wish for Adam what he wishes for himself, whatever that may be in his musical career. But that voice, that marvelous, one in a billion voice, well...it's hard not to wonder and dream, right?

That is not Adam's best photo for sure Got to agree. When I saw it, I wondered what went through Q3's thought process when choosing it. Was it just a quick photo grab or is she trying to show all aspects of Adam. I was also trying to decide what is that expression on his face. Probably way too much analysis on my part! lol I've been reading a book about how we are still largely controlled by our ancient "lizard" brains which sometimes lets real emotions flash across the face. No, I really thought about it for a while. I have tried really hard to get every single Adam look in a banner. And that is def a "look." I am not sure what I think about it. *** I work in consumer neuroscience and specialize in emotion detection, most scholars do not believe in this "lizard brain" theory -- and brain function is far more complex and entangled that this theory accounts for. The limbic system in a human brain does play a role in survival emotions -- fear, anger and sexual responses. the limbic system is responsible for controlling various functions in the body. Some of these functions include interpreting emotional responses, storing memories, and regulating hormones. The limbic system is also involved in sensory perception, motor function, and olfaction. But the prefrontal cortex (which lizards do not have) also plays a role. It is not as simple as was once believed. Do you know where/when it is from?

But that voice, that marvelous, one in a billion voice, well...it's hard not to wonder and dream, right? How ironic for you to post this now. I was just on a Skype call with Angelina Kalahari. Of course we were talking about Adam, and in specific, Adan's scrumptious tone. I am also an Ella fan. I can hear similarities between Adam's voice and hers. Not that they sound the same, but they have characteristics in common. Ella and Adam both sing with such an easy sound. No strain, no push, no belt, no stress. If just flows out of them. Ella, like Adam, has a rich, warm, round but light tone. It is full of resonance, sounding 3D. I am not an acoustical analyst, but I believe both their voices are loaded with layers and layers of complimentary harmonics. Like a gourmet chocolate, there are top notes, undertones, complex flavors, and a rich buttery velvet textures. When you say that Alisan's voice is grating, I think you hare hearing something acidic and brittle in her high, belted notes. Lots of higher harmonics, but lacking in the richer, warmer lower harmonics. I think of it like listening to a small, tinny speaker lacking bass, vs a home surround sound system.

My analysis of today's photo is that Adam is very engaged in a conversation. It is a good conversation that he is enjoying. His eyes look lit! The reason it looks "odd" is simply because he was caught "mid word" for this photo/screen cap. He is in the process of saying a word that probably starts with an "F" (from his mouth, tongue, teeth placement.)
