A new article about QAL: www.tickx.co.uk/article/490/Queen has a new King - How Adam Lambert secured the leading role. One of the biggest bands in the world has a new front man, but how did American Idol runner up steal the role? If we are talking about tough shoes to fill, (Shaquille O’Neal’s monster 22’s aside) Freddie Mercury may just be top of your list. Wordsmith, Gay Icon, Frontman to the second biggest selling UK band ever, Freddie’s early departure has left a void in the music industry that can never be filled. For the following decade, there were no performances by the band such was the emotion attached to everything Mercury had touched, it was only the aptly named The Show Must Go On that brought Brian May and Roger Taylor back in front of an audience as a tribute to their treasured bandmate. Fast forward another fifteen years and a few years collaboration with Paul Rogers the band were once again looking to perform the hits that we know and love. Step in American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert… The decision to appoint Adam certainly raised a few eyebrows, not least because the contestants of intense talents shows often fall quite swiftly into anonymity… (insert list as long as your arm here). But make no mistake, Lambert wasn’t picked by a consortium of label execs or Jim Beach (their long standing band manager) he was identified as an incredible talent before he had finished his stint on American Idol. Spike Edney got Taylor and May’s attention immediately and following a duet in the final with Queen which Lambert lost… WTF??? The band haven’t looked back since. Thankfully the pair have found in Adam a man who can pull-off strutting in spandex or donning a golden crown, ‘It doesn’t take the audience very long to realise that he is the real deal’ says May. Earning the trust of a crowd that will always yearn for Freddie would take time but after four years we can see that Lambert is the right choice.

Ahhhh, Saul has a great sense of humor!! Haha, yeah, I doubt either of them will admit to anything unless they decide to become exclusive again. And even then, I have a feeling Adam maybe regretted having been so willing to share information when they were together. Ever since their official breakup, he's been very quiet about romances.

Watch!! Interview with head of DMG from 2015. Adam part starts at 2:51 www.youtube.com/watch?v=enaGq3Q3vBAOMG!! The Lady Gaga rumor for the EMAs was true!! Eeeeeeee! They took Adam instead!! Eeeeeee!! OMFG!!!! Very interesting interview from a few years ago! We know most of what he says about Adam and Queen, etc., but what I love the most are the comments about what a great person Adam is and how hard-working and focused and dedicated he is. Not to mention how multi-talented he is. So great to hear those in the business say what we all know to be true.
