I really appreciate the comments and dialogue between Cassie and Talon - and I have to say that I'm in agreement with both of you. I've been fortunate enough to have seen Freddie live, and yes, he was (and still is) a force to be reckoned with. Freddie totally dominated everything on stage with an intensity that I had never seen before - it seemed that he looked straight at you and dared you to stare back. Seeing Freddie perform live is something I hold in my heart and my memory forever.
Fast forward now to Adam. My first time seeing Adam live was at Gridlock at the Paramount backlot on New Year's Eve (2009-2010) - his first performance with his band after the controversial AMA's. My son who lived in West Hollywood at the time took me - and we were both stunned by what we experienced that night with Adam opening up as to who is really is and singing his heart out. The most special moment for me was in "Soaked" after the pause when he came in acapella and then the keyboard picked it up - he was absolutely perfect!! That was my "original high" moment, and I don't think I've ever quite come down from that. I love Adam not only for his talent, but also for who he is as a person, and I want him to continue to succeed on his own terms following his own path.
The two Queen shows - with Freddie and with Adam - to me are two different things. With Freddie, it was the domineering intensity that blew me away. With Adam, it's his sheer talent and his all-encompassing warmth that draw me in.
Tomorrow (June 29), my younger son and his grandson will be coming with me to the San Jose show. My younger son has limited mobility, so we have to be careful where we sit - but we're going to do it. It's important to both him and me that he gets to see Queen again and that he will be able to experience Adam live. My daughter and family took me to the Phoenix show. My LA son is currently in China teaching ESL, but he has already contacted me and wants to know all about this new concert. It's a family thing for us.
BTW, in closing, I really like "Two Fux" - pure Adam!

I understand the inclination to contrast and compare, Freddie and Adam both fronted Queen. And both have legions of devoted fans.
But I keep thinking, how lucky are we to have had (in Adam's case, have) them both?
And I also understand preferences.
But preferring one doesn't have to diminish the other.
How wonderful that we can have two kings. Two different amazing gifted singer performers to perform the music that has made and still makes people happy, thoughtful, sad, aroused, feisty, moved. How wonderful to still hear the songs that are iconic live. How lovely for Brian and Roger to see, yet again, the songs of their life astound an audience.
I also enjoy reading the differing viewpoints, understand them both, and appreciate talon for being so willing to not just react, but to explain why he loves Freddie so much. I totally get it, talon, you are passionate about Freddie. Good on you. I hope everyone has a very favorite singer and is still open to appreciating others, as you are.
PS, thanks Betty, for posting that amazing clear, close video of Someone to Love, so happy to see it so early, I was looking forward to seeing it and it is, to me, as amazing as I thought it would be from the stream.
