I actually commented on the site I read...though there were no comments but mine there so don't know if anybody..or who...will see them. I just suggested that a fuller understanding of Adam's bravado may be understood by listening to Underneath; and Aftermath; There I Said It, and even Outlaws of Love. Saw your comment and thought it was so good I could offer nothing further. It just infuriates me when older gay men take this attitude just because things are somewhat easier now. Instead of resenting the younger generation for having an easier time they should be proud they helped pave the way and keep the memory alive of the struggle it has been to get to this point. Not to mention the lives of so many young men lost to the AIDS epidemic that this generation thankfully does not have to go through. I was reading some of his twitter comments. When someone said Adam had not always had it easy he said something to the effect that what a reality star went thru could not compare to what Freddie and others went thru during their time with beatings and death. So Adam is to be held to account for not being born then or very young or being alive and succeeding as a gay man today? Would anyone want to come to see Adam fronting Queen all broken and sad and ashamed about his life. That would break my heart to see him feel less than and lacking confidence and see fans not appreciate him because of who he is. QAL should be a celebration of a great show, wonderful vocals, fun and sexy and that is what it is meant to be. That is what it is. Adam cannot be expected to erase the hurt that others felt in a different time. He has his own struggles to face today and he does it with pride and strength and he is going to stay right here.

I was doing a bit of thinking a comment @pattihum made yesterday about the long tour break. She proposed that maybe they were hoping to add a show in Chicago on 7/12/17. But I don't think so -- Chicago has never been a great Queen market. She did inspire me to consider the idea of more shows being planned than happened. I think this could be the case and I think the gap is Canada. Perhaps they planned to do more shows in Canada but did not get attractive offers from the cities in central Canada? Here is a comparison of the Canadian part of the two QAL North American tours. 2014 Tour Canadian Shows - 8 21 June 2014 Winnipeg 23 June 2014 Saskatoon 24 June 2014 Edmonton 26 June 2014 Calgary 28 June 2014 Vancouver 13 July 2014 Toronto SOLD OUT 14 July 2014 Montreal 28 July 2014 Toronto SOLD OUT2017 Tour Canadian Shows - 4 2 July 2017 Vancouver 4 July 2017 Edmonton 17 July 2017 Montreal 18 July 2017 Toronto Close to sold out, excluding resale tickets. Just a thought. If they sold out twice in Toronto in 2014, I wonder what happened this year that they didn't sell out once? And why fewer shows this time around in Canada? Any thoughts?

So weird that HB declares Sold Out on marquees and press, then concerts don't get reported as Sold out! Not only QAL, but NKOTB too! Yeah, why is that??

Kyle Harris put his very honest views out there. He summarized what he feels Adam is about. I don't think he knows much about Adam - other than Adam is gay. And, I think Adam himself has said 'that is not the way to define me.' Adam has many facets; so many ways to shine. Kyle picked just one.
He's put Adam in the box that several of my older gay friends and family have found. I think this only makes Adam's quest more difficult - he must rally against the bigoted, homophobic community - and he also must defend who he is amongst the gays of an older generation - who could be flamboyant (like Freddie); who could be outrageously creative, demonstrative (like Freddie) - but who could not say; not ever; that they were homosexual or bisexual. My next-door neighbors; my uncle; my brother-in-law - all kept very much to themselves about their true sexuality. They all lived 'two lives' . . . the hetero, acceptable one, and the let-your-hair-down, pink flamingo one among other closeted, queer friends. I mourn their need for this. I understand their need for this.
Today, as the queer community is out and proud, I see an anger, a despair, coming from these older people I love so well. My uncle has lived a closeted life, a life hidden from his parents and most of his family. He's now in his 80's - alone. Now, he sees gay men and women publicly and without shame being who they are. He becomes angry. "Can't these men rein it in?' He doesn't want to see Adam; he doesn't want to see glitter and gauche and high heels. I cannot speak for anyone but myself; but what my uncle spews forth seems more the reality of shattered knowing. Once, there seemed to be no choice. The only reality was shame and hiding; living two lives. The world is different now, but those who lived, carrying a displaced, misplaced, undeserved shame, carried it nonetheless. Now, their pride is in the fact that they did carry this burden through life.
This is a quagmire I can't wrap myself around. I know it's there. I know my BIL is angry that men who are attracted to other men don't just quash these desires. That's what he did; and now, in these 'golden years', he's become a bitter man.
Freddie's generation - the generation of Kyle Harris - had to navigate two worlds of acceptance and knowledge. How cruel it was, and is, still today.
I'm a nurse, by profession. There's a saying in the medical world, that 'nurses eat their young' . . . meaning, that older, experienced nurses vilify, humiliate, embarrass, intimidate, and, by example, dehumanize those very people who choose to follow in our path. I venture to put out there the suggestion that Kyle Harris' post contained some of the same truisms; albeit in a much more sensitive realm. I did not find anything worth celebrating in his post.

This year's Toronto show is essentially sold out. There are single seats, side stage partial view seats and not much else. I think they could have sold out a second show this year but it would have diverted sales from Auburn Hills, MI (north of Detroit) and Cleveland. Both of these shows will have a lot of Canadians at them. Regarding only 4 Canadian shows -- your guess is as good as mine. I guess they figured they would make more money adding US cities and skipping over the small Canadian markets. One thing is certain, this tour is being run to make money -- expenses are tighter than last tour, crew is smaller, prices are higher for VIPs and tickets.

If Kyle was 80, I would get it. But he's not -- he wrote he was in middle school (so around 12-14) when Freddie died. That means he is probably in his late 30's -- basically Adam's age. ***** He wrote about how he feels -- I can accept that but it would have helped if he did not research first. And the way he wrapped AIDS into his piece makes no sense. Of course he didn't know a lot of people who died of AIDS but not because he was living in "flyover" country but because he was in Middle School. I lost many people I cared about to AIDS and they weren't all in NY and LA. More importantly, writing about AIDS like it is a thing in the past is ignorant -- more than 1.1 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the United States, over 40 million in the world.
