Thanks Dancy...I'm up to speed. Didn't know that normal cameras don't record in the lossless format for the FLACs or WAVs. I had noticed when I DLd Lynneville's huge files at Devenlane's for the Nashville show, the audio sounded better to me than on the Youtube versions....thought maybe the audio from her camera was FLAC or WAV. Now, I know that you need special equipment...like you have....to get the FLAC quality. I'll be happy with my M4a's from Youtube.

Well, I said "most video cameras". I have Lynneville's Nashville raw audio downloaded also. They are "MOV" files rather than MP4 files. MOV is an older Apple QuickTime format. MP4 also originated from Apple, but has become a more universally accepted format. Most video cameras today record in MP4, but some will record in either MP4 or MOV, and even fewer will record in MOV only. Both MP4 and MOV formats are what is called a "container" format. Other than MPG video, most video these days comes in a container format which contains a video (image only) track, one or more audio tracks, and one or more sub-title tracks. Video players will let you select which audio and sub-title tracks to play. So, MP4 and MOV video files could contain audio in any number of different formats and you need a software program such as MediaInfo (free) to see what audio format the MP4 or MOV file actually contains. MP4 video from a typical consumer video camera will typically contain either AAC or AC-3 audio. M4A audio is just a MP4 container that only contains audio. Typically, the audio inside the M4A container is in AAC format, but it could be in other formats. I am less sure about what audio format a typical MOV file will contain. I just checked the format of Lynneville's raw video files with MediaInfo. The audio is in PCM format which is basically a WAV format with certain parameters. So, I could very easily extract the audio from Lynneville's raw video files in WAV format and compress to FLAC format. It makes sense to do that! However, even though the video was recorded with audio in a WAV format, unless she has a VERY expensive video camera, the recording mic on the camera is very likely not of the same quality as the mics I use to do audio recordings. But sometimes higher quality equipment picks up "too much" such as more arena echo. It might be very interesting to see how it compares to my Nashville audio. ETA - Also, when Lynneville uploaded her raw video to YouTube, YouTube converted the video to a different format with M4A/AAC audio. So both the video quality and the audio quality got downgraded with this conversion. Anything grabbed from YouTube will have this lower quality!

this may be my new favorite recent non-QAL picture of Brian. I had such a happy reaction to this picture. What a great thing to do that with your son, and Jimmy looks so much like him. I think he's around 39 or so. Just love Bri so much. fwiw, I mentioned the eclipse as the likely main reason for Brian's trim over a week ago but no discussion ensued.... Been there myself on these things...many a time...comment ...no response...someone else comments and ...well you know. I Get It! I should have paid more attention but last week I had 4 adults for company ...so barely skimmed the thread...sorry ...excuses excuses... You have obviously been more up to date than most of us --well for sure me...haha I heard about it on the radio, just this week in relation to caution re pets, then a huge spread in the Friday newspaper on the eclipse.

Am I the only one happy to see Adam's gorgeous hair back in rock star style? Question only for those who care about the hair, lol.
