A sort of recap: Leila was there with Ray. Terrance too, but we didn't see him until he was leaving. Oh, and OFC, Leah was with Adam. Adam was just inside the glass doors of the building getting ready to leave, taking pics with staff. We were in the valet line. Terrance saw us (me, Rema, Sherry, and Amanda) and I swear....comes running out of the building to give us all hugs! Love him almost as much as Adam. Such a lovely spirit! When we got there we snagged the table in the bar area that was right next to the red carpet. Several people used it as their way station on their way in! One lady, after Adam walked the red carpet, was next to me with her husband. She looks at me and says, "he's quite good looking isn't he?" My reply, "Ya think?!" #SmartAss Adam's Red Carpet walk was short, then they took him upstairs. He wasn't out & about at all. I danced with Aaron Carter for 5 seconds! LOL! He may have been drunk, IDK! He was just walking past me & started dancing! OK! Wonderful appreciative crowd for Adam He got a standing "O" when he finished OMT. Plus, some people stood up and applauded during his glory notes. Everyone stood after STL! The night was worth every single penny! Such a wonderful organization too! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, @pattihum! Last night must have been another very proud moment for Leila, and so good to know that Terrance was there too. Adam looked and sounded fantastic last night - very nice to see that others outside of our bubble notice the same

Old topic - do you think Adam will take some of the fixed furnishings when he moves from his house? I keep thinking of the chandeliers.....

I know he has a book signing in LA too. I assume he'll stop by to visit Adam when he's there. Damn - I should have asked him out to my place. I'm out in the sticks and planning to hike up to the top of our ridge to have a look see. Wouldn't I have just fainted if he took me up on the offer! Yeah, right!

George Michael -- the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter who died last Christmas at 53 -- was honored posthumously in Los Angeles on Saturday night (Aug. 19) for his decades of humanitarian work with Project Angel Food, the L.A. non-profit that delivers meals to people who are critically ill. The occasion was Project Angel Food's 27th annual Angel Awards, during which Michael won the Elizabeth Taylor Leadership Award, named for the actress who was a longtime PAF benefactor and among the earliest activists for HIV/AIDS fundraising. Adam Lambert, who performed a three-song tribute to the former Wham! frontman, was one of several stars of music, television and Broadway who helped raise funds for the charity while remembering Michael's contributions to music and his quiet philanthropy. "George Michael was a God-gifted voice from the heavens," Lambert said. "And he raised half a million dollars for this organization." ... But it was Lambert who stole the evening, with powerful renditions of Michael's 1987 hits "One More Try" and "Faith." Lambert, who is in the midst of a world tour as frontman for Queen, spoke of Michael's work on the 1991 tribute to the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. "Now I know my way around a Queen song," Lambert said. "So I'm gonna connect this circle and we're gonna do 'Somebody to Love'" -- watch below. ... Our table wasn't as close as I hoped, we were in the back but center back so yay, and sitting with several board members of Project Angel, along with the KTLA honoree and his TV group; everyone at our long table was beautiful, warm, and inclusive - it was truly one of the most awesome events I've been to thanks to Adam. We bid on a few things but didn't win. My friend happened to have Tyler Henry's book and spoke with him about it, he and his mom were so lovely!
I was a little annoyed that people didn't stand for Adam, I was standing until I realized that there was a couple behind me that were sitting and I was afraid I was blocking their view, so I sat but then stood up again lol, sorry people but I could not sit. Can you believe the 2 men (a couple from SF area who are involved with a similar organization) didn't seem to know who Adam was?? My friend enlightened them through dinner, and she said they were quite impressed during the performance.
Unfortunately, I got a little carried away with the open bar (the Careless Whisper signature cocktail was soooo delicious) - and forgot my gift bags (had been given 2 lovely gift bags with goodies including a t-shirt, wine, jewelry, goodies) under the table. One of the 2 adorable men who were riding back to the hotel with us ran back to get them for me, but alas they were gone. I also spent a very bad morning with pounding headache, but it all worth it!

Adam's performance of "One More Try" was incredible. Gorgeous vocal, beautiful interpretation. His entire tribute to George Michael at last night's Project Angel Food gala was great.
And, yes to more bluesy recordings! It's been my hope since I heard him sing "Red House" (love, love, love---a forever favorite). It's that flavor he brought to "Whole Lotta Love" at Fantasy Springs, which made it so mind-blowing, and that he continues to inject into "Somebody to Love." He has an amazing soulful, bluesy side to his voice that I'd love if he used more. Or at least let the general, radio-listening public hear.
He would mesmerize with ballads in that style and I also think he could successfully combine a powerful, bluesy, wailing vocal with modern pop rock-edged (or funk) instrumentation---like he did with his killer version of "Black Cat." I don't think many solo male artists are currently occupying that space. He could have that lane mostly to himself right now. I so wish he would lean into that rock-soul vibe. It's perfect for his voice.
