He once said to an interviewer--in a sheepish way when they commented on the amount of his earnings (the year he was the top Idol earner) that basically he does not get to keep all of that. He is still doing more than fine. But would he even have half of his gross after his expenses? Just for a frame of reference for me: What is a likely Management fee----10-20%?? Glad he cut out his publicist as that can reduces a percentage. He can hire when needed. There is his American income tax level minus his deductions. I googled and it is a base of 39.6 % for 10 million. (I know my nephew who plays hockey in the US has to have an very good accountant as he has to pay taxes for each game, in each state he plays in. I had no idea that is how the US works its taxes.) ...still a heck of a lot of pennies in his account! There would be even more if he did not get leather Versace jackets in every color.

This is basically the same article that appeared in Billboard, but it has videos of One More Try and Faith embedded, no STL.

Forbes always says they report the amount earned after expenses but pre tax. But even if they did not, would he have a lot of expenses with Queen?

Just a thought, and I know nothing about that market (or any market), but maybe there have never been a better time for a gay artist to break through in the US. looks like half the country is getting more involved than ever in favor of issues that the US president is against. Seems like he’s raised awareness and activism in the opposite direction than he intended, and as a result many people are more open, inclusive and accepting. Maybe this is the time when a defiant, unapologetic gay artist will be enthusiastically accepted. People crave opposition, from whatever direction. I'm not saying Adam should take this role, he should do whatever suits him. I'm just saying the conditions and climate may be different now than what they were just less than a year ago. PS I'm not bringing politics in, it's more of a cultural or social thing. I don't think it is the general public holding back gay artists in the US. More the gatekeepers. Sam Smith was not defiant but his label got him played everywhere and the public loved his music cause they heard it everywhere. #1 song, Grammy's, Oscar, great sales. Frank Ocean was defiant but it was not about his sexuality just his attitude. He got around his label in a pretty devious way but had big backers supporting him to get those big sales. There are already defiant, unapologetic gay artists out there and their music careers are not taking off. They are niche artists and most without major labels. Adam is known and very talented and everyone knows he is unapologetic about his sexuality. If he got the kind of play and opportunities that many others get I have no doubt he would be much bigger just as he is (with his big talent and good looks and charisma). But he is doing better than many so hopefully a few more doors will open for him. Very true! But sometimes you can "skip" above the gatekeepers. It's hard, but Adam is not anonymous, and does have a major label behind him, so he may be in a position to do so. But again, I wasn't talking about Adam, but just in general. (And by the way, Sam S has already had two huge hits when he came out, so it's a different story).

Tho US radio seems to be in love with anyone from the UK or Canada, lol.
