Liverpool last night was great! Was a little concerned that the crowd was slow to warm up for the first few songs - Adam tried to gee them up. But boy! did they get into it.... Everyone standing before it was over - right up to the rafters.
Stood near the B stage and the crowd there was wild right from the start. Couldn't get there until about 7.30 when the floor was pretty full but amazingly still found a gap just one person back from the barrier. We asked a large group if we could sneak through into the little gap they'd left and they were charming.....so lucky.
(I say this every time but Liverpudlians are among my favourite people on this earth. Very direct, no nonsense, call a spade a spade - but always so kind and helpful and warm. The staff at the Echo Arena must be among the best trained and proactively helpful anywhere).
Adam seemed a little uncomfortable for the first few songs - only real fans would notice - perhaps some technical issues but it soon passed.
Funny moments - when the crowd went ahead and sang the whole of I Want to Ride my Bicycle leaving Adam stranded....no idea how it built but everyone enjoyed the moment. Also - may not be captured on video - but at the end of the drum battle, Roger turned and held out his hand towards Tyler in a gesture of praise...which turned into a middle finger as the applause grew.
Brian definitely had moments of indicating that he was very tired. Wiping his brow and hanging his head a little - but his performance was great. Strangely we realised that the younger crowd may not have known the words to the Beatles song he sang (I think he did that last time in Liverpool - I may be wrong....) but us oldies made up for it. And Brian's hair was super-amazing! Must have had some special treatment....it was extra full and glowing!
Adam hit all the right notes, in very way - we were just feet away from the UP and STL vocals....the crowd responded with cheers; I was glad they recognised the magnitude of what they were hearing. The sound quality was excellent but I suddenly thought how great it would be to hear him singing opera - without all the instrumental noise and the electronic amplification and the cheering....just his voice....on peak form in perfect circumstances... for simply his voice. I wish he would do it - even if just once....
Talked to a few people as we left and nothing but great things to say about Adam even though they were mostly long term Queen fans. They accept Adam as the piece in the jigsaw that makes it all happen. It's so simple - without Adam, none of this now. Why would real Queen fans not appreciate that?
I concentrated on the bows at the end to gauge the levels of applause - and in our section, we were all absolutely sure that Adam's applause was louder and rowdier than that for Brian and Roger. Love them all but that made me happy.

My guess, it is a knock off and Adam just bought it. Could still be a knock off, but I rarely see fakes of these kinds of medals for sale. Normally it is just not worth it making an elaborate copy when real ones become available too (through heirs selling their family's medal and so on). But our antique trade is not in these kind of items, and I don't really know medals, so could be everything. Anyway, I don't think it is a big deal, but I am amused that Adam is wearing a European catholic royal pin. It might be this one? (there are four different ones) 2.bp.blogspot.com/-HVVU1SsZJi4/VrI6Zu1q1xI/AAAAAAAAbTw/-Eauds-W0wQ/s1600/123the%2Bregalia-Order%2Bof%2Bthe%2BImmaculate%2BConception%2Bof%2BVila%2BVi%25C3%25A7osaOrdem%2Bde%2BNossa%2BSenhora%2Bde%2BConcei%25C3%25A7%25C3%25A3o%2Bde%2BVila%2BVi%25C3%25A7osa.jpg(This from AdoreAdam) Hi Nick, Alex and Skaschep O nly saw this discussion right now. Yes it 's a Portuguese military order, restricted to Cavalary and Navy and you are right Nick... it´s not a Knock off... our Adam uses no fake things... this is the real deal I offered Adam in TOH tour Zurich...he just loved it and of course he knows what he is wearing because I added a full family and history explanation... but I never tough he would use it in the show... thanks for that, for showing me that gorgeous pic that started this conversation. So, this was an honour receivied by my great grand parent and it was offered back in the day to those patented generals in the Army that made relevant Humanitary services to comun people in times of war and my greatv grand parent recieved the 4 of them, like you said Nic...always very well informed and documented.. Those 4, I thought run in the family... this one I gave to Adam but as Nic said I don´t know if the other 3 were sold in that auction; and yes Nic the one you posted is the one I gave Adam the others being slightly different. A distant cousin asked me to give it to him as soon as he knew I had it by heritage and lottery... but the fact is that as soon as I laid eyes on it(3 years ago ) I thought of Adam and decided to wait for the opportunity of giving it to him... our beautiful inside and out King that made possible the revival of Queen for our joy and delight... yes this is the whole story and I think everybody agrees I could not have found better owner for it. looking forward to see some of you in London the 12 and 13 December.Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/4454/11-28-17-qal-liverpool?page=18#ixzz4zpLj5e6V------------------------------------------ Bringing adoreadam 's extraordinary post over from the end of yesterday's thread. In my usual inept way - still don't know how to do it properly after all these years. What a lovely story and what a wonderful return of the compliment - your gift and his wearing it so proudly. AMAZING!! I am in happy tears for Ann!
