The lyrics were the same. I listened several times. He just didn't go for that final glory note. He took the phrase down to lower notes. I was surprised like everyone else, but I really liked the effect. Guess he just didn't want to belt out that last big one this time. Song is still a show-stopper. When I watched the video (before reading your comments), 5 seconds before the note I knew he was not going for it. Body language, I guess. I don't think he was quite happy with the monitor mix during the song... Also look at the hand gesture around 0:36: youtu.be/NliLKlEtwcg?t=33I noticed that he dodged a lot of glory and/or sustained notes in Somebody to Love and some parts where he usually sings he let the audience sing. Especially the ending. I was thinking something was wrong. Then I noticed he lowered that phrase in WWTLF. Glad he at least kept in that glory note in UP.

For the record, I don't think these changes affected the quality of the show (from what I can see in the videos, and from reading the rave five-star reviews). For example, for a few shows now, he appears to be letting the audience take over the end of We Are The Champions, which in my opinion is a very smart move. The song should be about everybody ("We"), not "Look at me what I can do with my voice in the last minute of the last song". I believe the situation with STL was similar - once the audience had joined the singing, letting them carry the song was not a bad thing at all. Add to that the absolutely ridiculously amazing relaxed attitude and body language, and it simply works as "Less Is More" in the end. He has already demonstrated during the preceding songs that he has nothing left to prove.

I think that night in STL you hear a sound screech and he pulls out his left ear monitor. So either he gets pissed at the sound or doesn't trust that he'll be able to hear himself right. But then we've also talked about some band members being a little under the weather last week. I certainly couldn't hear it but maybe cautionary too.

I don't think I've ever seen him play with his ear monitors like this during this song before. Poor guy! (He also was completely gone during Dr May's solo, so I am thinking he was back by Spike using his "secret" mic to talk to the sound guys) Still so beautiful!

It could be the weather of where your flight was coming from maybe? Hope you all get there on time!! I guess it could be, I would think a direct SFO-Heathrow would just go back and forth between those 2 cities, but I have no idea. No issues in SF right now, so it's gotta be London.....or they cancelled for some other reason. Weather in much of UK is dreadful...snow and blizzards. Lots of train/plane cancellations. Sooo cold... Hope Adam's got his undervest on!

Hi, girldrummer here. Just curious about my original post that somehow got tagged with the name "pi" above when it was repeated. Not mad or upset. Just curious about how these things happen. My bad. I was trying to shorten the previous post to show only the part I was responding to, and I must have goofed. Sorry. Thanks. No problem. I was just worried that my "sign in" had a tech glitch or something. Relieved!

And just to add, Adam-wise, I think Adam will pull out all the stops for the London shows. It does seem like he's pulled back a little on the glory notes, etc., a few times, but London is where I'm sure he will want to give'em everything he's got! And the final show in Birmingham will be the end of an epic tour where even the naysayers are finally on board. They will really bring the house down in Birmingham!
