Joining the legendary rockers as recipients of the prestigious honor from The Recording Academy are Tina Turner, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, The Meters, Louis Jordan and Hal Blaine. A special award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the honorees will be held this summer, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks. Formed in London in 1970, Queen released their self-titled debut in 1973 and went on to become one of the biggest-selling artists in music history. The band has received multiple Ivor Novello Awards, an MTV Global Icon Award, and have two recordings enshrined in the Grammy Hall Of Fame "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" which continue to remain staples at sporting events and arenas around the world. Queen were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001, and all four original members were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. Queen frontman Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 at the age of 45 due to complications from AIDS, while bassist John Deacon retired from the music industry in 1997. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have continued the Queen legacy with live performances, including tours in recent years with American vocalist Adam Lambert; the pairing will next perform in Australia and New Zealand for a series of shows starting in February.

hhhhmmmmm left out JHud and others they did. for Adam's name being in the serious press for ALL THE RIGHT reasons!!! "The Grammys described the band thusly: "With their sterling song craft, virtuoso musicality, and colossal spectacle of their live performances, Queen—John Deacon, Brian May, [Freddie Mercury], and Roger Taylor—captured hearts and conquered charts like no other band in history, a legacy that continues to live through the ongoing work and concert performances fronted by May and Taylor, presently joined for concert performances by the extraordinary American vocalist Adam Lambert." Took them a bit but they finally caught up with us What a great start to ERA 4. No more "notorious","scandalous" blah blah blah blah and such...just "extraordinary"

Did you two Tina fans see her on the Jonathan Ross show (UK) a couple of months ago? She was absolutely delightful....so grounded and elegant. (Adam connection? They may share a stage soon...) Thank you ShopieB...I hadn't seen this either.
