What are the opinions on why Adam is in the studio all of January (except the JCS possiblilty)? I thought his album was done last year with only finishing touches being done and a release date being considered. Just wondering what you all think is going on? I know none of us know but I'd love to hear some opinions. I think the song writing camp in France, and may be even some new life experiences may have given him new ideas and inspiration to keep going. May be additionally his label asked him to keep working on stuff. I am fully supportive of Adam to release music only when he is absolutely ready and feels like he has the best work to offer. Another thought is that he might have changed an EP format to a full album. Adam talked about planning to be in the recording studio all of January when he was in that Christmas talk show in London. But then again, Adam may steer away from original plans. I do believe though that he is busy doing something right now.

Just sayin' That was actually the first performance I ever saw of him and was blown away. Around the time of the live shows.

I know none of us know but I'd love to hear some opinions. An album done under contract with a major label is not done until the work is submitted by the artist and then accepted as done by the label executives. There are two common possibilities: 1. The artist (Adam) is not done, and/or 2. The label reviews the submission and sends the artist (Adam) back to work on it some more, create/record more tracks. The other possibilities are not likely in this case -- the label decides they don't want to release the album and they stall so they don't have to pay out the contract, or there is some major issue between the artist and the label, just does not fit what we know. My guess, because it is extremely common is this is #2. That Adam put together most or all of an album, submitted it, and the label wants him to do more work. The album has never had a release date and no one from Warners has indicated it is done. In fact, everything I have seen online and the limited info I have been able to get out of Warners is that they don't have an album yet. Finally, we know Adam does not work on recordings quickly. I sort of wish he would work faster because I think some of his best work has come out of 1 and 2-day recording sessions.

Thank you Q3 and others for your opinions regarding this "delay" (if you want to call it that). Educational and fascinating. This is the best part of Adamtopia, the knowledge that you all share. I love this place. And of course I only want Adam to release when he's ready, I was just curious of your thoughts. And I agree 100% with the bolded part of Q3's answer. It's hard to pick a favorite album of Adam's but FYE was fantastic and he recorded that in only months while on the road touring with Idol. Happy New Year everyone. 2018 should be one helluva of a ride!

Oh girldrummer ...I totally feel ya! I too think Adam is working in the studio on the album... I'm still on it that there was some kind of restart, break around Feb-March-April last year...which was not simply a change of heart on Adams side as to where he wants to go with the album...just think what the label would say if artists kept changing their feel five songs into the production of an album after they have already settled into a direction... Because I'm an entitled fan I do hope/ wish we at least get a hint as to what happened/changed... When did Charls Brown post that Adam showed him songs and they were all lit? As I took it, it was several songs then. Lets say 6-8 songs...which would still leave another 5-6 songs to make an album of 12-13 songs...Adam was on tour for a lot of the remaining time since then... Adam said, that what he liked about TOH was that in the end, they had a lot to choose from. It wasn't just this "...here are ten songs" kind of thing...they were able to select the best...maybe he wanted to get that again...and it just took time... ETA...wasn't there a review about Trespassing or TOH that also said that Adam should trust his gut more, the next time around, the album is too thought through?

I still hypothesize that JCS changed the timing and direction of the album somewhat. A decision was made by someone, Adam/label, to adjust the timing to see if he got the part and the album could benefit from the promotion and exposure on TV. If he did get the part then the direction of the album was modified to be a little more rock and a little less dance/pop to coincide with JCS and QAL. Hence more work in studio.

But I will add that originally I think he was going to do an EP to get something out there faster, like last August after the US QAL Tour. He had several friends who used the term EP in twitter or IGs. But sometime in late August or early Sept., WB and Adam decided a full album was the way to go. Now, when that will be released, I have no idea. Maybe a single in April, album in late summer (August) is my guess now. But I have been 100% wrong about Era 4 so far!

I too think he went from EP to Full album (happy about that even if it took more time). He had said before he really got started that dance/pop was out (thankfully) and he was going for more alt rockish/bluesy/Queen inspired/real instruments. Also losing the label head and new people coming on could have had something to do with the timing and increase in songs to full album. I am also in the camp that it is speculation and no one really knows for sure. But he seems to like what he has produced and is producing so the excitement builds.
