Guess this is what they'll run during the Olympics..... :( It really starts to look that Judas does not have an important role in this particular play. 😑

I confess i still can't see all the posts here - (risking the wrath of bamafan ) but in a quick and necessarily incomplete skim I thought the Stephen Colbert Panda Express thing was because there was fleeting reference to the film 2012 of Time for Miracles theme song fame. but I may have missed some clues of course.

Does anyone know how long the televised JCS is scheduled to be? Might be a clue to how much might be cut out....
Even so, don't think they can cut much of Judas.
Films seem to run at about 1 hr 50 mins.

I don't believe for one minute the role of Judas will be minimized in this production. JCS is an established show, not a different retelling of the story, with involvement from the original creative team. IMO either the role has not yet been cast, or there is some performer-specific issue in place to prevent the announcement (and it has to be something significant for a major cast member to not be included in promo during the frigging Olympics). Personally, I'd bet on the former, not the latter.
At this point I will be pleasantly shocked if Adam were to be cast.

That should allow enough time for lots of commercials, or at least several blocks of them. Interrupting the show too much, as normal commercials often do, isn't helpful to the flow. They obviously can't omit the Judas role and omitting any of the original tunes would just be wrong IMO. I'm afraid I'm growing weary of all things JCS. ETA: I've looked and can't find where I saw it was scheduled for 3 hours, but I think I read it somewhere early on.

The role is too pivotal to the whole story. Judas IS the impetus for so much of the action. And all the songs have to be included or else the story makes no sense. To cut any songs would ruin the impact. Nobody knows why the Judas role has not yet been announced, but Cleopatra, your theories are as good as any. It is odd that the Judas role is not part of the promo. The role is central to the whole show. I still would love to see Adam get the part. His vocals alone are unequaled and he already knows the part. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Bama....I really didn't think they would shorten it and 3 hours knocks that on the head.... ..(..and I'm amazing at Guess The Tweet these days.... )

And remember, ALW is involved with this production. I am still going with John has pushed hard for this promo, because once the production airs, Judas will be outstanding, no matter who he is. It truly is THE role! But Hollywood is pretty stoopid, if they see John in all the promos for 2 months, they will see him as the star & if it gets a nom at all, it will be John's.
