This is as off-topic as it gets, but every time there's a clear picture of his face, I'm struck by it again: how both of his eyes have this subtle, single teardrop effect in the iris. I don't know how else to put it. It's cool and weird and beautiful and poetic and alien and wonderful. I'm sure this has been discussed extensively in Adam fandom, but I'm catching up. The one time I got to meet him was a rushed group photo VIP thing my friends paid for back in 2009/2010, and I didn't have HD TV back during his Idol run, so this eye business is all very new to me, and I'm finding it profoundly distracting. It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder how interviewers of any orientation even function. I mean, you're sitting there and he's within arm's length, usually, and he's giving you that Adam Lambert Attention that he brings to every interview, which is like the "over 9000" version of a normal human being's attention span during any conversation, and his eyes are like saucers right there in front of your face. And you must notice that he's got beautiful eyes and then you notice little things like the freaking teardrops and how the colors are arrayed in this particular way and you start to doubt yourself--to question what the real color of his eyes are and wonder how the universe even put him together the way it did and if he might actually be an alien crash-landed on Earth and what else is there that you haven't figured out yet, like maybe his eyes are an alien maze or linguistic code or something that will tell you what planet he, Bowie, and Prince actually came from. And all I'm saying is that I'm sure the first ~10 minutes of every interview is edited out to preserve the interviewer's dignity after they realize they've been staring at his eyes with the same awestruck, forlorn curiosity that NASA scientists demonstrate in the search for life on Mars, knowing they'll never have all the answers in their lifetime, and my god, that must keep them up at night. Suddenly, I understand Byron Cooke and Lyndsey Parker. Also Michael Slezak, who was safe enough until he found himself in the same room as him. One after another, they fall. It's inspirational, and it's tragic. I forgot what I was saying. Adam brings out the Paula and the Jacob in me at the same time, what can I say? ...I like his eyes, is what I'm saying. You have pretty eyes, Adam Lambert. I hope he hears that every day of his life. [ Oh yeah!! He does. The only time I was close to him I just stood there and looked very happy. It was so short that this was a completely adequate reaction. Then he left and after a while I found myself alone in the hotel lobby where he had been just a minute before, staring dreamily at the ceiling. And I realized that if everybody was outside maybe I should go too. And then Adam was still there, sitting in the car, chatting with his dancers and waving to the exited throng out there. I would definitely need the 10 extra minutes to find my voice if I would ever be close enough to talk to him.
