I haven't seen the episode yet, but Adam's getting a lot of fire from Drag Race (Trixie) fans for supposedly not understanding gender stereotypes. They seem to think he's pretty but dumb. I guess they missed the eyeshadow on his face, the covers of his albums... and basically his whole career. Adam's so good-natured and has such a stellar track record as a mentor/judge, I wonder what happened that there was any real tension at all (if it's not being constructed from the editing, that is). Ridiculous comments about RPDR. Adam was smart, a great coach, gorgeous, and NOT about gender stereotypes, IMO. Didn't see any tension except from one contestant who didn't want to hear what Adam had to contribute. Could have been considered disrespectful of Adam, in my perception. It's so overblown and silly, the way some of the fans are reacting. I get so tired of social media sometimes, in that hasty moments of "shade" and "drama" go viral and drown out more nuanced considerations. Like the fans who assume, apparently, that Adam is transphobic, sexist, and internally homophobic because he asked her to sing in a high register. The same people are commending her for "putting him in his place" and treating him like a nobody or never-was, instead of realizing the very same issues at play in his own career: regularly defying gender stereotypes and paying the commercial cost for it in fairly significant ways at times. It's so ill-considered and poorly researched on their part, but that's just part of the drama-before-substance nature of social media, I guess...

I just got home and haven't seen RPDR yet, but after reading through the past two pages I am wondering if jealousy within Adam's community is an issue....

Haven't seen the Drag Race yet either...only saw the previews and thought, when that one guy said to Adam "So you believe in gender stereotypes" I felt that did NOT sit well with Adam of course I didn't see the hole show and this is just based on the microseconds...Adam answered "No, I believe in authenticity and..."...I just thought like...does that guy know ANYTHING about Adam?^^ This is also my answer to the other comments criticizing And in that way... Sarah you once again put it SO well: "I guess they missed the eyeshadow on his face, the covers of his albums... and basically his whole career." ...one may even say his whole live! btw. When was that interview with RuPaul? Was it around the time this show was filmed? (August)

I just got home and haven't seen RPDR yet, but after reading through the past two pages I am wondering if jealousy within Adam's community is an issue.... I think it's mostly just fanbase ire (apparently, she's a very popular contestant) and social media being social media. I didn't get any sense of jealousy; if anything, the people who were criticizing him were putting his successes down as outdated or worthless. Most mentions I saw were praising his hotness, though. It's just that the viral moment concerning Adam was about him being "put in his place" as a gender conformist, or whatever, and then supposedly punishing her unduly. It was exactly the kind of moment that gets lots of retweets and reactions to its "truth" based on poor research. Disposable drama. The only thing that really bothers me is the few who are calling him a never-was or doing the "oh, is he still relevant?" thing, as though it's only the celebrities who keep generating that kind of viral, disposable drama that are "relevant," rather than working artists who just keep on keeping on being themselves and living comparatively quiet, authentic lives. That attitude is so ridiculous. It's also funny that they say Adam just didn't get her sense of humor (that she wasn't actually trying to put him in his place but just making a joke), while at the same time praising her comments as Truth, as though she were actually trying to put him in his place. Make up your minds, Trixie fans! Ah, well... EDIT: Exactly, marionm ! He's only been at it since he was a kid.

I just got home and haven't seen RPDR yet, but after reading through the past two pages I am wondering if jealousy within Adam's community is an issue.... Most of the vocal Trixie fans on twitter are teenagish girls, defending their queen with their SJWselves. It’s no biggie, just what fan bases do.

I just went on twitter and I didn't notice much drama - most comments were on Adam's hotness. Well, I can't blame them.

I recommend not overreacting to any RP All Stars tweets. It is a small number of people involved. Here is the sentiment of Adam-related tweets since the show was broadcast. The right side is pleasant tweets.
