This is so sad. Read this last night & was in tears! Sad and mad at the same time!So glad Adam 1) Got his success at a more mature age. and 2) Has longtime friends around plus a strong, stable family.
I mean 17 and signed a contract that gave his manager 50% of his earnings? Who let him do that?
Grrrrr! His death seems like it was so avoidable.

It is almost as if his management committed manslaughter.
The 50% is like something from the 1950's -- and 20% of performance earnings!! Yipes! I guess he did not have an attorney?

Yes, I agree with you Adam is lucky in many ways.
One of the "unintended consequences" of the elimination of many of the humanities in Universities everywhere [philosohy..anthropology...ethics...history...etc] is that we have come to "see" that these qualities are unimportant compared to management...economics....accounting...political science...etc. If you don't recognize the importance of critical thinking and ethical analysis at the educational level, you certainly are not going to see its value when 'filthy lucre' enters the equation. Very sad...and predictable.
One of the problems is that when you suggest these things are just part of a bigger picture...people often get dismissive and suggest you are just riding your own hobby horse. Divide and conquer...
Imagine how sad and isolated Tim must have felt...most people did not even know his name....tragic...
