I guess I am not understanding why they think Ada should have won. She was picked by the judges and never the voters. Clay was in the closet but he came in second with the voters. Adam was not in the closet and came in second with the voters. His sexuality was not addressed on the show but they were not allowed to give interviews at that time. That didn't make him in the closet. But with the picture of him kissing his ex and everybody under the sun talking about his sexuality, why are they acting as if it was hidden? Heck you even had ministers saying vote for the Christian and not the gay guy. The media, which played a big part in making his sexuality more of an issue than his talent (thank you Bill O'Reilly) probably played a part in him not winning. Now they are claiming he was not out and people did not know he was gay. They could not stop talking about it. That was how I discovered Adam. They were talking about the gay contestant on CNN. I then tuned in to Idol to see what he was all about. I have no doubt that some would not vote for Ada or other LGBT contestants because of who they are. But with Adam, his talent was so huge. Plus he was good looking, stylish, charismatic, all with rock star stage presence and a smile that could and did melt many hard hearts. And it carried him far into the competition. But even that was not enough to secure a win. Did they really think that Ada would be the LGBT contestant to finally break thru with a win when she never got thru any cycle with the fan votes? The Idol voters are even more conservative now than they were when Clay and Adam were competing. well for what it is worth, I didn't know Adam was gay when he was on Idol :D He was my guy but at that time I wasn't looking for internet info on him, I just watched the show. There had to be others like me who had no clue I can see that. Maybe some did not know cause there was nothing that really stood out, imo. But my main point was that just because Adam made no announcement on the show or some were unaware that did not make him in the closet. I heard about him on CNN and saw the Bill O'Reilly show where he was making sure that anyone who did not know, he was going to tell them, lol. Sarver and Gokey gave him a hard time at first because they were uncomfortable with his sexuality. Everyone on the set and fellow contestants knew. When you are not out, you hide it from your fellow contestants and the TPTB the way Clay did. I guess I feel that people are out all over the world and most of them don't get to announce it on Idol. But they are still out. And Adam took a lot of fire and attacks for his sexuality during his run for the media to now pretend they only found out after Idol. When Kris won there were many who said it was because Adam was gay. That was well before the Rollingstone cover.

I don't think it matters that Adam was gay or not. I don't think that is why he lost. Not that I Think this topic should be dredged up lol. I knew he was gay, it was obvious. Nail Polish e.t.c. But I Thought he was a really nice guy, liked him. And of course amazing singer. Did not matter to me. At that point Adam did not offically come out to the world till after the show. But of course while in the idol bubble. Contestents cannot give 1 on 1 interviews. Adams season did end up becoming a social referendum. I just think the actual voters, who normally vote on this show. Prefered the clean, safe guy. When Adam sang A Change is gonna come, he won the show right their and then for me.
But moving on to more current events lol. I am presuming he well b promoting his new music on Kelly. QAL talk possibly.

There had to be others like me who had no clue I'm another one just like you. :D lol. When I first saw Adam....I didn't think gay. I was just overwhelmed with his talent, good looks and sweet personality. Later on in the season I saw the kissing pics with Brad and I thought well....he must be bisexual then...lol. I didn't even have a computer in Jan of 2009....had to get one...so it took me a while to learn the internet and get up to speed on all things Adam.

There had to be others like me who had no clue tinafea, I am one of those others who had no clue. And to this day, my "gaydar" is still way off haha. I didn't really think about Adam's sexuality when he was on Idol, and I wasn't on the internet or part of any forums. All I did was watch the show religiously week after week. I think it was after the show when I started missing Adam that I googled him and learned more about him. That's the time when the Zodiac show popped up and the red hot number "Crazy". A whole new world opened up for me haha. My guess is that anybody interested enough about Adam's sexuality was only one google search away from figuring it out. Ada Vox presented a different story that was obviously anything but mainstream friendly. I also think she had her best performances early on - the last two didn't quite grab me. Still, to have her in the Top 10 was well deserved and quite educational for America

Bet this is announcing QAL will be on Idol finale! Hoping!! I hope they are announcing the QAL Los Vegas residency! I don’t think Adam would do that w/o Brian and Roger. But the ABC, Ryan, Idol connection has to mean something.

After the "Black or White" Jackson performance, there really was no doubt about Adam's sexuality. Or whether he was "out".
Ada Vox is talented, but ultimately for Idol it was a "shtick". Think of Norman during Adams year. Couldn't decide whether he was a comic or a singer. I don't know if Ada would make it on RuPaul's Drag Race at the moment, for instance. I strikes me that she needs to mature as a performer in that stage. I hope the Idol platform helps.

My best shots at connecting this to Adam is that Steve Akoi is in it, who Adam collaborated with and that Adam has said of himself, that he is addicted to his phone. Here is the new episode of "America inside out" by National Geographic on technology in our daily life I found it very interesting and quite scary frankly. www.dailymotion.com/video/x6iljph

There aren't that many episodes left. Since they are doing both performance and eliminations in one episode, I wonder if they will have guest performers. Maybe once they whittle down the number of contestants they will have more time....
