Looks like there will at least be a RC on Facebook for the GLAAD event. I am generally not at all a crank for overused or misused words/phrases..I know language grows and shifts, etc etc. But the outrageous use of the term "ICON" has made a complete mockery of the term. The thing is...it has not morphed into another meaning...it is simply over used until it has made the original virtually meaningless. The way the term is used in reality television especially borders on plain old stupid! yikes....give me strength...no, patience...lol

Exactly! When I see the advertisements during Idol with the Icon segment and they have used Pia, Justin Guarini, Kris Allen and Jessica Sanchez etc. as icons when they have not made any marks in the industry, it makes Idol look like The Voice. I have yet to see them show the many success stories of Idols they actually discovered who became stars. Very odd.

It's no longer special. It's like too many standing ovations. It's like everyone on the Little League team getting a trophy. Kind of takes away the value of it for the people who really deserve it. Oh well.

It's behind a pay wall for me, can't read it. It was for me too until I clicked on it again.. Adam parts in the beginning and then goes to Kelly Rowland. Includes pic of Adam and George US singer Adam Lambert’s verdict on Team Boy George Karlie Rutherford, The Daily Telegraph an hour ago Subscriber only AFTER a sluggish start, Channel 9’s reality TV show The Voice has really picked up in the ratings for the final week of the blind auditions. Now Channel 9 will be hoping that ratings momentum continues during the knockout phase of the competition, which begins tomorrow night. And they are bringing in the big guns to do it.Boy George’s team received a surprise visit from American powerhouse singer Adam Lambert for a mentoring session before taking to the stage. “My friend Adam just happened to be in town doing sellout concerts with Queen,” George said, much to the delight of his team members. “He knows what (the Voice contestants) are going through because he’s been in a similar situation.” Lambert found fame on American Idol in 2009 and since then has sold over three million albums as a solo artist. He also tours the world as lead vocalist with iconic rock band Queen. While he didn’t pick a standout performer, Lambert said the contestants in Team George “had a really good energy” and there was plenty of potential for success after the show is over, encouraging the artists to “be themselves”. Ok. Thanks for the info. Now it makes sense.
