It didn't get lost on me. The section about Commercial Radio basically confirms what has been discussed here many times. It looks like a change needs to come sooner than later. I am crossing my fingers but I am also hopeful that Adam's new music will find its way to new audiences.

bridgeymah It didn't get lost on me either...I always appreciate it alot when people bring things like this on here...thanx! thought-provoking for sure! I immediately passed it on to my musician friend...will see if she get's back to me on it. Not sure how american radio works, but german radio stations have a mix and go through all different centuries. Like one old song (70-80s), a old-er song (90-00s) and a new/newer one. There is this classical radio station (Bayern 2) that plays classical concerts. They name the composer, conductor, the orchestra, venue etc...and I once actually caught a program on there that was more educational, providing different examples for what they were talking about. Yes I barely ever hear of someone that says they sit down, turn on and music and the only thing they do is listen to said music. It really is more of a thing going on in the backround. Music while shopping, while driving, having it on in the backround when you have friends over, while your cooking, etc... I plead guilty to being totally immersed in the pop music scene. In this article the word pop is used in the sense of "generic" and not simply as "music, that a lot of people like". It's a bit of a vicious cycle. If you take too long with your album and really get into it, give it depth you might be away from the scene and after three years people ask you, where you've been, what took you so long and talk about your "comeback"...if you don't do that and bring out an album in todays pacing you run the risk of making music, that lacks originality, creativity and depth to some degree at least.

This is a very sobering article. And I urge others here to read it. It just underscores the fact that Adam needs to diversify as much as he can. It would be ideal if he could keep rising and succeeding for a lifetime on his music alone (and I do hope that happens.) But the music industry is so homogenized and manipulated now, it's ridiculous. Adam will always be a singer. But I'd love to see him spread his talents into acting, producing, social advocacy, TV opportunities, marketing, etc. He's got a lot to give.

There are so many singers out there and The Voice ,American Idol, etc. keep turning out more.. At least the shows create jobs for a few singers as judges.. Many performers are turning to other avenues..It's sad all the way around,so many can't make a living. Adam is lucky he has Queen for now..I would like him to focus more on his solo career, but where will it get him, unless he's one of the handful that gets played. hard business.I think Adam is very smart,so we'll see what he does to keep all the plates spinning at one time.

Thanks girldrummer marionm melliemom cassie and sizzling63 for your comments on the article I posted. The homogenous and narrowing landscape of music should worry everyone. I agree with the article, much of it starts with kids. A first-hand exposure to music, making it, listening to all the various forms, reveling in the wonderous diversity is the key.
I have no idea what it all means for Adam. I guess time will tell if he is afforded the opportunity to keep performing and contributing to that landscape.
