Honestly, Fuller’s comments would just be more publicity except it has reminded people that Bryan Singer is still safely under his rock. The producers/studio had to be pleased w reaction to trailer because a lot of industry people had sorta written the movie off given all its troubles and some assumption it was going to be weepy melodrama. So if it opens big and it gets good or even somewhat good reviews, what do you do about the director, what do the actors say? Rami will be carrying most of the weight and they’ll all have talking points, but still — awkward. who will be given official directing credit. The producers could try leaving him off but unless they have his consent I would guess an appeal to DGA would be successful unless DGA - which had a rep on set part of the time once complaints started - gets creative. I feel bad for the actors but the people who had a part in hiring/approving Singer, not so much

I don't understand Fullers pov. 1. IT is a 90 sec trailer. To jump to an informed conclusion of the movie now, is absurd. 2. Freddie was not openly gay his entire life. In the 70's and 80's it was a big struggle to be an open LGBT artist. It is not as accepted as it is now. So It makes sense the movie should show that. I find it funny the poster is too "Gay". They do know who Freddie Mercury was right LOL? And 3. This ain't about Freddies personal life. Its a Biopic on Queen. The best and biggest Rock n Roll band of all time. And the origins of the impact they made on the music industry, and the world.

I think what Fuller is trying to say is that FOX is hetwashing the marketing of the film. It doesn't sound like he is claiming the film itself is hiding Freddie's sexuality but he is accusing them of deliberately leaving it out of the marketing of the film. He is wanting the marketing to be open about Freddie's sexuality and the cause of his death. I can see his point but this is still early stages of marketing and to expect the first trailer to be all encompassing is a little much from my point of view. Now if they continue in that vein of sidestepping Freddie's sexuality in all of the marketing then his point is stronger. I personally would have waited until a little more of the marketing was on the table to make that complaint but then I am not LGBTQ+ myself so don't have the sensitivities that those in the community have to this type of thing. Visibility IS incredibly important. On the other hand Freddie was more than his sexuality and Brian and Roger have both commented that they felt the media focused too much on Freddie's sexuality so it's possible that they wanted the marketing to not be explicitly about that.

That Queen was a big part of his life but that it is about him.

I had to look up "hetwashing" Never heard that term before. When I googled "what is hetwashing" Google said do you mean Jetwashing. lol. I see Urban dic says het is short for heterosexual. Can't find an actual definition. Can assume what it means. Google showed many variations of that same Bryan Fuller post in lots of publications when you Google "hetwashing"

happy just posted about Stars on Ice and how one couple reminds her of our Adam in terms of radiance and star quality. I am posting something similar - about a male skater and definitely another Adam that I feel increasingly passionate about - Adam Rippon. Yes, I've been enjoying his time on DWTS -- too bad the season is so short! I think some people were trying to ship him with our Adam during the Olympics! lol I wonder if they have ever met?

I believe they have met or at least know each other. I would probably be inclined to ship them if there was even a remote reason to do so haha. I think Adam Rippon has a boyfriend.
