Yes, it’s great to have Adam back in our timezone! 😁
I have one question though: Adam always writes, that he comes to Europe and the UK. As a European I‘m always wondering: The UK is a part of Europe. Why is he distinguishing between these two? The UK is one country in Europe as well as Spain, France, Italy , Germany, the Netherlands ect. Is anybody else wondering about that? I ALWAYS find it weird. 🤔

And are you from the US or the UK? I realized that differentiation for the first time, when Adam said it. I think, Queen does it as well. I spent many vacations in the UK and I never noticed it. When you travel wherelse, you say the country. I mean, it’s all Europe. That saying doesn’t exist in other European countries for all I know.

nightowl Historically, the British have always thought of themselves as separate from the Continent. Since Canada and the US were largely founded by the Brits, I guess we have picked up on that distinction.

From Google...
Is the UK part of the continent of Europe? In both Great Britain and Ireland, the Continent is widely and generally used to refer to the mainland of Europe. ... In addition, the word Europe itself is also regularly used to mean Europe excluding the islands of Great Britain, Iceland, and Ireland (although the term is often used to refer to the European Union).
I think for some/most Americans we see the UK as somewhat separate from the mainland EU countries. Maybe has something to do with being physically apart from the continent or maybe seeming separate...to some extent...because of our close historical ties to the UK. Now with the UK leaving the EU, I think that reinforces that distinction in our minds. This may be an "old" way of thinking...not sure how the younger generation views it.
