Audio Game - Day 6 Song: Another One Bites The DustPlease give the following feedback in the thread: 1) Which version do you like best & 2nd best? And why? 2) Which format did you listen to, FLAC, M4A, or MP3? 3) Did you listen on a PC or on a Smartphone? 4) Did you listen using speakers, headphones or earbuds? If speakers, was it the speaker on the PC or a better speaker? 1) I am going to give a slight advantage to Version B this time, even though I don't quite know why: it sounded very close to Version A to my ears... Version C was interesting to hear, but it gets third place this time, because I don't think it's the right mix for this particular song. I am noticing that in some songs I prefer to hear all the stuff: instruments, audience, etc, while in some other songs, I prefer Adam's voice to be front and center... 2) I listened to Mp3 3) Using my PC-laptop 4) And earbuds

Sorry I was talking Radio. It reached 20 on US pop radio (CHR) and 17 on HAC but it was very slow moving up the charts. A hit just not a major hit. That's what I thought. As far as I know it was never a top 10 hit on radio in the US.

I have been wondering about and bothered by for some time about why so many people feel the need to mention that they are “bored” with QAL or cannot get up the enthusiasm to buy a ticket, etc....? Of course anyone can say that if they do feel a need to express it publically, but here is one of my biggest qualms with that. Who is to say that Dr. Bri might not happen upon some such comments? We already know how sensitive is, and since he and Adam have the largest social presences of the lot, there is no reason that they wouldn’t at least randomly check at least some of each others’ various platforms, especially closer to shows? And yes, as an Astrophysicist, Queen guitarist, Badger lover, follower of parliament, etc..., I think he can still certainly do this, especially to look at a bit of his GFG’s doings, musings, etc...
Just as much as Dr. Bri graciously says that without Adam, touring today wouldn’t be possibly, just as certainly, Adam would not be where he is today in name recognition (which we’ve talked about his being a bigger overseas celebrity than U.S.),and he can only benefit from that international celebrity and might need it more than us or he could know one day. Also, Adam is wealthy, and we know where most of that co,es from. Plus, if I were Dr. Bri, it would hurt my feelings to hear that my music was boring or that Adam’s time with them had become borimg or such.
Again, of course, anybody can obviously say what they won’t, but might it be possible to simply describe, with enthusiasm, as I guess we all feel, how we long for and will be happy when new music comes out? And here’s another thing, Roger and Bryant”s touring time is shorter. In one interview, someone asked Adam something about why/how much longer he would tour with Queen (inexact phrasing here but the gist is there). I remember how immediate and earnest his response was, with a sort of tone IMO of incredulity to us voice. He said something to the effect of “They’re my friends. They should be able to perform and enjoy their music at this time in their lives.”
Sorry for the lemgtj of this. From what I have seen, this is by a tremendously polite group, and I doubt a single person wrote the above listed sentiments about QAL with an idea of possibly hurting anyone. I know some might consider this post a small matter, in which case we can simply go back to one of the “White Shirt” pictures. Some of the comments are priceless, but I can’t figure out if there really is another picture that Adam must approve being posted or if this is some kind of joke?
Anyway, blessings to all, and try to withstand the heat. Even this old, thick walled adobe and living a bit over 7,000 elevation is not sufficient—even the nicer homes here generally don’t have air conditioning bcs it wasn’t needed before global warming got so bad.

Sorry! I don’t know how to remove double posts, and please forgive any errors in the above message. I only have one lens in my glasses due to a tornado of a Ridgeback puppy.

Adam is very successful! You don't have to be like Mars or Beiber to be successful. You don't have to do arenas and stadiums to have a great career...A number one song across the world doesn't give a singer perpetual fame.. just see all the one hit folks, don't even hear of some of them any more..
Adam has two careers, most singers can't get one. If you truly want to know just how great Adam's career is ,go back and look at all he's accomplished.. Currently,Queen gives him a chance to do what he loves to do and that is to SING and to sing for massive audiences around the world. How wonderful is that! IMHO, He is a very smart man and he knows what he is doing in terms of his career and longevity.Staying in the music business whether a gigantic star or not seems to come with lots of grief . Just look at how many greats are gone today from drugs,etc...To stay healthy and hopeful in that atmosphere takes a lot.. I give Adam tremendous kudos for what he probably has to contend with, even from his fans who can never get enough.
Here's to Adam for his guts courage and determination..Yes I want more solo music because I love him ,but if the cost is too high ,maybe I can wait a while..

Adam's vocals in front. B -second best. It sounds like its far away but sound is clear. C-least. It feels like there is a distortion in the sound. 2) M4A and MP3 3) On a PC 4) Headphones - top quality ones.

I will post another song in my Audio Game series tomorrow in the new thread. I am hoping for more responses for both ABTD on page 1 of this thread and UP on page 1 of Friday's thread. Thanks bamafan and @astralla for listening to the last couple of songs in both FLAC and M4A/MP3! It illustrates some very important concepts in audio. It's also why I posted the files in 3 different formats and asked about the device the song was played on (PC or smartphone) and how it was listened to (headphones, earbuds, speakers). The format of the audio can have a big effect on how the song sounds!!! One can hear more details in the audio with a FLAC file than with M4A or MP3 files, but only if: 1) those details are present in the recording,
2) you listen with high quality headphones, earbuds, or speakers, and
3) the audio is played on a system with a good sound card (i.e., a good DAC = Digital to Analog Converter).
Both of you used high quality headphones or earbuds. And you both played the songs on a PC. Any PC that cost about $700 or more is likely to have a decent sound card for playing audio. However, the sound production on most smartphones is not as high quality as on a PC, unless using a smartphone with exceptional audio like the LG V20 or V30. It would be interesting to know if your 1st and 2nd place song choices would be different if you used low quality headphones/earbuds/speakers and/or played the songs on your smartphone. When I listen to the QAL concerts streamed on Mixlr or other programs, I can only listen to them on a smartphone with the built in smartphone speaker. If I try to listen with good headphones or earbuds, the audio sounds even more distorted and just awful. In summary: 1) High quality audio is best listened to in high quality formats with high quality playing devices and listening gear to hear all of the details in the audio!!!
2) Low quality audio is best listened to on low quality devices and listening gear where it's shortcomings is not as apparent!!! I'm NOT saying that the audio with Adam's vocals more upfront is low quality per see. But it looses details through the process of the audio being transmitted from the soundboard to the Assistive Listening Device via radio waves (or one of the other 2 similar methods used in ALDs). The ALD audio was recorded in WAV (same quality as FLAC but bigger files). But recording in HQ cannot recover what was not in the audio in the first place or what was lost via the radio wave transmission.
Also, the ALD audio is produced with more vocals and less band on purpose because this is what folks who are hard of hearing need in order to hear the audio. Too much audience noise or reverb and/or echo due to sound waves bouncing off walls and other objects makes the audio very hard for them to hear.

That's why the anticipation of new music is my favorite part...once the new music is out, and people listen to it for 5 minutes, it's "what's next"??? It kind of reminds me of little kids at Christmas, tearing through the presents, not really paying attention to the actual present, just wanting more and more presents to tear into. At least that's how mine were.
OT, why oh why do I keep waking up at 4:15?????????? I'm a morning person, but this is ridiculous. Pretty soon I won't have to bother going to bed lol.
