bamafan i consider myself relatively up to date, when it comes to the music scene bit i haven't heard of her before either. I think sizzling63 singled out her performance as her favorite. Adam agrees I loves Camilas opening performance of "Havanna" i love the song to begin with and she hasn't done it the same way twice. She and her team mix it up. Yes, this was a big production, even for her, but she can also "strip it down" she's performed it on radio as acoustic and her performance of "consequences" was raw, although there was a full orchestra there lol P.s. Camilas performance, the staging, was inspired by her grandma growing uo in Havanna in a "solar habanero"

I was listening to the radio last night and "Killer Queen" came on by 5 Seconds of Summer. My radio station is always slow to play Adam (if they play him at all) when he releases new music. My bet is if Adam had recorded this they still would not play it. Ugh! I did not realize that those songs were going to be released to radio but I guess they have been. Also at the Grammy's, it seemed Gaga was trying to turn her song into a rock song and rock performance. Perhaps Rami winning all these awards playing Freddie gave her a reason to try to upstage (and show she could do it better) someone who was not even on stage and only playing a rock star, lol. Also with the Grammy nominations, perhaps if Adam can get his new music in the alt or rock categories (most of it nominated is not hard rock anyway) he will have a better chance at a nomination and/or win. The competition there is less and he can sure do a better job than most if not all in those categories. So many view him as a rock star anyway. And TBH, to see Rickey Martin and Timberlake (SB) still with all the dancers surrounding them is not very inspiring or impressive, imo. It just seems like the same old thing that they always did and now being done by the early twenty somethings. But it worked so big for them in the past with radio play, awards and award show performances that I guess it is hard for them to give it up. But I don't see any growth. In the case of a Grammy-nominated song, I think it's wise for a singer to perform the song exactly the way the fans have heard it. Gaga made a mistake, IMO, by changing it up too much and actually ruining it for a lot of people. We all knw she's a risk-taker, but this risk didn't pan out. It's a lovely song. I think she should have left it the way people love it. lurleene, I totally agree with you about Adam getting his music in the alt rock or rock categories. He is long over-due for recognition by the Grammys. I know he has one nom so for. But with the voice he has, he deserved to be rewarded. I know, I know. He needs some HITS. That goes without saying. Maybe he'll get some radio play this time around. But you're right about getting him in those other categories for award noms. He's been overlooked far too long. It's SO frustrating year after year to see him not included in these awards. Of course, there are many well-deserving people who win. But he is known for his amazing vocals, so the time must come at some point. IT DOES MATTER when it comes to your over-all cred. It's got to be frustrating for him, too. And yes, Rickey Martin and Timberlake have kind of out-grown the still surrounded by throngs of dancers is a little dated, at least for them.

I loved Brandi Carlile. She should have won something. I thought she won a bunch of grammies last night? ETA: looks like 7 noms and 0 wins, WTH? That's just wrong! ETA: I guess the above is incorrect, she did win! I'm not finding good info on the internet apparently lol!

I thought she won a bunch of grammies last night? She did......I looked her up...she won 3 Grammys last nite. for Americana Album, American Roots Song and American Roots Performance. Oops, sorry. I must have nodded off! I was looking at the end of the show results. There were so many categories! It gets longer and longer every year.

But that is the thing, in alt and rock you don't really need the big hits to get nominated or win. You just need to be on the radar, radio and talked about. It is not like with pop where you have to have mega hits now to even be considered. That is unless you are Kelly Clarkson and you get a nomination all the time , tho, your music is not selling big or getting the massive radio play required of the others. I just want to see Adam in the mix before too much time passes and I don't see how he can get there in pop.
