I can't believe I have read the name MM here!!!!!!! Please, never again! His fans crap on Adam every chance they get! Every video, every post where he is mentioned. I would have thought that he might put a stop to it or just say something but he never has and I'm sure he's read them.

Brian and Roger could have picked him before they ever met Adam but they did not. However, I don't think an artist can really control nasty fans. Often times they are probably not all even MM fans to begin with. Just a chance to be hateful to Adam. Sometimes some even bring up Paul Rogers, George Michael (when he was alive) or anyone other than Adam. On one rock site one even said Gaga should have performed with Queen at the Oscars. Geez, some wanted Rami to perform at the Oscars instead of Adam and he is not even a singer. HA. Some of these people are envious trolls who make little sense.

Every time I hear "so and so should be performing with Queen", my copy and paste response is "Two people who actually have a say on this happen to disagree" and leave it at that.

I'd bet my house money on the presumptuous fact that Adam is the last frontman of Queen. Me too!

I have a really hard time imagining Brian and Roger, at this age, starting with somebody brand new, especially after touring with somebody that fits them as perfectly as Adam does. And let's face it, how many performers are out there that would equal Adam in voice and talent and personality? I don't think that would happen...at all. I would place money on "it ain't never gonna happen." 1. They tried performing as Queen with another frontman, Paul Rogers. My impression is, try as hard as they could, they could not recreate the magic, the feel, the power of Queen live. It got them back out there, touring their music, but I don't think it was totally satisfying. 2. From reading between the lines, my impression is they gave up being the active band "Queen" at the end of the partnership with Rogers. Roger decided to keep the music alive by creating the first rate tribute band, Queen Extravaganza. But Brian has said they thought it was over for Roger and him, performing wise. 3. Brian and Roger saw a spark of potential when they met and performed with Adam in 2009. Unexpected, unplanned, never sought out, so they have said repeatedly. Since then, Queen + Adam Lambert has been successful musically, performance wise, in concert, with audiences, with the press, and personality wise beyond their hopes and dreams. Lightning struck a second time, and Brian and Roger know how rare that is. 4. Brian and Roger have repeatedly said that, had Adam not come along, they would not be touring any more. And that if Adam was not performing with them, they were not interested in finding another frontman. Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto.
But the evil side of me would like to see Queen perform once with someone else so I can here people say and tweet -- he/she is pretty good but he's/she's no Adam Lambert.

Recently, when I had one of these super smart-ass people in front of me, who was trying to lecture me on the fact that MM sounds more like Freddie and Adam does not, I tried the following comparison.
So Andy Warhol made many posters/pictures, and somebody (person A) buys themselves a paint-by-number workbook of Warhol's art, and begins coloring. And that person does an excellent job staying within the lines and carefully re-creates a picture that looks incredibly like the original by Andy Warhol.
Then there is a second person (person B), somebody who sees himself as an more edgy and out there in his artistic expression, and he looks at Andy Warhol, tries to imagine what Warhol wanted to say with his work, and then goes out and does his own picture, in the spirit and/or with reverence to Warhol. So he makes a poster and there are no Campbell soup cans in sight. Maybe the poster has i-phones instead of soup cans, now that it is 2019, who knows. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people argue about him as an artist, but in the end, many people pay attention.
Artist B gets to exhibit his art at art galleries around the country. Meanwhile, fans of the guy A start a media campaign trying to tell the world that their guy is the much better replica of the original, and it is a crime that nobody is paying attention to those impeccable copies. And they don't understand why their snowflake does not get to exhibit around the world like the other guy does.
The guy I was talking to said something along the line that Adam was no artist and was not convincing him, etc. I told him that he certainly had a right to that opinion, and that artists, if they do their own thing, usually find themselves understood by some and not by others. The need to live with that dissonance, but also need to follow their own inner voice, and earn the respect, and deal with it, if that respect comes delayed (as imo happened with Freddie and Queen in general).
And I also told him that I thought that MM had done pretty convincing work with his own music, and that I thought he had tons of talent too, but that trying to inhabit the space that Freddie was in, was just pushing him into a paint-by-numbers role, because that was not his natural self in those songs, but that in his own work, I certainly had plenty of respect for him. I also think MM is quite a nice guy.
It was an interesting conversation, and I think that while the guy did not back down about MM in front of me, I think, I did give him something to think about. Just thought I'd share for those that have that eternal MM angst. Maybe that comparison speaks to you too.

The demographics of those radio holiday concerts don't seem like they would be predictable about a mature singer and his base. It was almost a disconnect 5 years ago.
