So new music in May? I guess until then have to endure stuff about his personal life. Yep scroll is my friend, I am just not all that interested. I spent quite a bit of the weekend looking up how to market singles when you are an independent. A lot of the DIY blog of cdbaby.com . I would like some of the creative approaches as I think in the past it's been very scripted without a lot of creativity. Independent artists will do giveaways, they can get fans to pre-save the song on spotify, they have on demand items to purchase, they might release a single every month and rerelease the single from the prior month at the same time. It talks about using song snippets in Instagram headers and how the music press has disappeared along with the CD so harder to get info out about you or the song. Which is where establishing yourself as a celebrity and not just a singer I think is important to Adam. Anyway lots to talk about if you want to talk business. It all depends what Adam opted for in his contract with EMPIRE. EMPIRE has a deal with Universal Music Group for distribution - but that is optional. My bet is Adam opted for creative control but will use UMG's global distribution. Marketing, sales, and promo - no way to tell until we see more of what PMack is doing.
EMPIRE joins Caroline and Priority in UMG's suite of indie-leaning distribution options for its artists, allowing those who use their services to pick and choose from a slate of distribution, marketing, sales and promotion offerings. Caroline and Priority are housed under the Capitol Music Group umbrella, however, while EMPIRE's deal covers the breadth of the Universal Music Group's global labels, and is non-exclusive, which will allow the company to continue working with other labels and artists outside the UMG purview.

I've never been able to read that article and seen what Adam announced in it. The article says UMG artists can use EMPIRE (and other distribution options) not that EMPIRE artists can use UMG's distribution. To make it relate to Adam he'd have to be an UMG artist and that clearly is not what he said.

Iggy's single has moved into the top 50 on Rhythmic chart at #44. She got 30 adds there Tuesday. She also got 23 adds for Urban but has not moved into the top 50 there yet. I want to see if Empire is able to get her adds for any other charts. Iggy is so outside of Adam's music and has 5 times the stats on Spotify that Adam does so I think she's a hard one to compare too. I'm seeing more similiarities to Robin Thicke. He released a December track and then released another track in early March.

I was only looking at her getting on the radio with Empire and never suggested they were the same. Even if they were the same, it does not mean the results would be the same anyway but that wasn't my point.

When you cross that bridge, it opens up much broader opportunities. Singers who have crossed over into "celebrity" don't need to have new music coming out in order to be invited on a talk show or be included in a media event, etc. I actually think Adam has approached this status a bit already. But getting to that point would be a great asset. Adam has yet to be fully appreciated for his humor, personality, spontaneity, intelligence. We always say he'd make a great guest on any big show. Sure, he's done quite a few. But that celeb status does make a different. I think he's getting there.

But Iggy's genre is in Empire's wheelhouse so it's a different kettle of fish when looking at what Empire can do for her vs Adam. That's what I mean by comparing. They will have to approach Adam differently and Spotify has changed in the last 4 years from all my reading too. Used to be you could find a big blogger who ran a playlist and smooch your way on or Warner Bros bought Topsify and had all their Spotify which they then had control over. Now there are fewer and fewer outside curated lists to be on and so many Spotify lists are algorithmic generated vs having someone curating them. It will be interesting seeing Adam's strategy as that's what I think it will be versus Empire's strategy. Glamberts are used to pushing to radio, Empire is used to pushing to streaming. Iggy is really using twitter to drum up business. Challenge videos that have fans acting out the video She will be on Jimmy Kimmel this week Making merch for the album (posters, candles) Telling fans they need to stream on one particular playlist so it can be added to more of them Telling fans to request at stations that added the song Asking - so what radio stations are we going to harass today

But I still was not saying Adam was the same as Iggy. Not sure why you keep repeating that as if I did. But I promise I will NEVER mentions Iggy again. You win the non-argument, lol.
