This whole convo about drugs is bringing me down. I don't think that's the message in this video. It's about love and happiness and what it takes to achieve that. As Adam said the elixir is given to people in different ways ( a magical or medicinal potion )and then they find their happiness. Sounds fabulous to me! I don't have a problem with it, after all not everyone is taking drugs, but Lucy's Grandpa certainly is (Lucy is specific reference to LSD and so is the stamp on the tongue laced with LSD). And Adam has never shied away from talking about drugs, wasn't it an LSD trip that got him thinking about going on Idol? He could have included native americans and magic mushrooms. I agree that the while deeper meaning is about finding your own way to happiness, some people will only see the superficial. And as we are seeing in our comments and those coming in from around the world he is an international artist. And he's probably of the opinion that most drugs should be legalized instead of putting users in jail, help them if they abuse or hurt others. Mushrooms not LSD but definitely an hallucinogenic.

I have had it for today.. It was just a matter of a couple of days before some of Adam's fans found fault with one thing or another with his new music. It happens each and every time. After all the complaining about no new music. Now we have new music ..So Now it's about a drug reference .. what happened to the cigarette complainer, another type of drug . some are back to bitching and complaining.. Good day folks ...
Have to clear my head, might take something stronger than two Advil and it won't be because of Adam's great new video....a valium sounds good. Look in your medicine chests what do you take? To add Adam is a singer not a drug counselor. Give it a break complainers

Is it good from Adam for fans to keep tying to push this drug story? If that is what you think the message is fine. But is it really fair to Adam if that is not what his reference is and the message he is trying to convey. He told us what it means. But even if you thought something different (because of his past or who you think he is as a person), why is your meaning more important than his? It is his art and his message. Why isn't that good enough? Are we really hoping that the other interpretation takes off? People kept pushing it on TOH song too...maybe that says more about the listener than Adam? Just a thought.

Because he's not writing in his journal.
Everyone who publishes any kind of art, be it music, a poem, a painting or whatever else, opens it up to interpretation and critique.

People who want to "interpret" it differently from what Adam says are just ignoring the person who actually created it. Makes no sense to keep saying it's about something else. Because it isn't. Because Adam said so. If you still don't like the video, that's fine. But I think it's only fair to Adam to actually believe what he says about his own work.

Very interesting where that interpretation goes. But that does not make it Adam because someone wants to make their meaning his. It means that is their reference.

It's true that art of all kinds is open to interpretation, but when the artist himself specifies what it means, then I guess other people's interpretations don't mean quite so much. If the artist offers no explanation, then I guess the interpretations can just go wild. But that's not really the case here.
